Daytona-Crashes

How many crashes would there have been without Waltrip and Robbie Gordon?

I thought even trolls could count, I guess not. Maybe not as many as the #18.

I wonder why I reply to you as you will simply come up more more lame stuff. If you hate Waltrip but there are many on the SSW than Waltrip.

I have to admit that I used to be a huge NASCAR fan but for the last 5-6 years or so ( How long has Toyota been in there?) I have rarely watched a race. I had nothing else to do this afternoon so I watched the end of the 520 and IMHO they could just as well race on Tuesday afternoon when I am working.

You didn't answer my question.

Waltrip-1.

I agree Purple, it is almost not woth watching. I cannot wait until this spring and we then go racing so I do not have to watch the NASCAR races as I will have something else to do.

Last season I believe I watched one full race and that was it. I use to watch every lap of every race. They are losing fans fast and are now trying to save the base. I hope the do but it will take better races than the one today.

Nascar should limit the super speedway restrictor plate races to one at each track not two at each. Then go with more short track racing tracks, and work to eliminate / resurface any track that has a typical one groove race year after year. Easier said than done I am sure but it would be a start.

They ruined Bristol when it was resurfaced, and I agree on the cookie cutters. I'd rather watch 30 Daytonas/Degas than the Caliborinya, Vegas, Chicago, Kansas, etc tracks.

Looks like 36 races at Darlington! woo-hoo! BRING BACK THE SOUTHERN 500!!!!!!

If ya'll are so sour on NASCAR, why don't you go take up knitting...or watch bowling? Things are never going to be "the way they were". Nothing ever is.

I watched the entire race, and enjoyed it. Even with the 2 car tandems, the shuffling and partnering made it interesting. Who would have ever thought we would have heard Kyle Busch say on the radio that the crash was his fault, and not Waltrips?

I did watch part of a fishing show and found out if I just spent more money for certain gadgets I'd probably catch more fish. IMO the 2 cars playing tag was better than 25 playing ring around the rosey for 190 laps.

All I was trying to say is that NASCAR is losing fans and maybe a few changes might help get those fans back. I talk to alot of racers at local dirt tracks and ask them if they watch NASCAR and the high majority do not. That tells me many are not happy with the direction NASCAR has gone. I know only one simple survey of some dirt racers.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Just hoping that NASCAR fans that have left would come back. Is there anything wrong with that?

You can tell others that if they do not like all the new rules to simply not watch but where will that take NASCAR for fans? I believe they will lose all the more. I do not believe NASCAR wants that.

I do believe that if one wants change, one has to speak up otherwise all will think everything is fine.

There, now I will go and watch some old movies with all the others that have quit watching NASCAR and let's see how that works out for the fans.

Lat season it sure looked like alot of seats were empty at the tracks.

I find that NASCAR's races were attended at a rate for seating at the tracks at 81%.

Here is more info in regards to fans.

Tracks lose over 150,000 seats: Some race tacks are downsizing by either eliminating some seats for fan zones of widening seats. The result is a decrease of 115,599 seats, based on changes in seating capacity this year to last year as noted in the NASCAR Sprint Cup media guide. Richmond held 112,029 seats before making changes. Now, the track's seating capacity is listed in the media guide as 97,912.(Virginian-Pilot)(2-4-2010)

BARGAINING POWER OF NASCAR ON THE WANE?

Considering declining TV ratings and attendance at most all of the tracks, both of these issues have significant impacts to the business aspect of NASCAR. One impact is that the teams may lose sponsorship value and another is the ability for NASCAR to be able to negotiate better rights deals in the future. The ratings for Sprint Cup races are down 10% and viewership overall is down 8%, which is estimated to be a loss of 500,000 people per race.

Track attendance dropped 10-15 percent last year, which has resulted in a revenue loss of 17.2 percent at ISC tracks alone. Scenedaily.com stated "Consider this: International Speedway Corp., which plays host to 19 of the 36 Cup points races, took in $195.5 million from ticket sales last year. It took in $192.1 million from NASCAR television rights - revenue for which it doesn't need any advertising or marketing campaigns." Nevertheless, sponsors don't like to see empty seats, because in their perception, they may believe that the interest in the sport of NASCAR is vanishing.

These numbers for NASCAR are not good in anyone's eyes.

kinda looked like a pretty good crowd yesterday

talking bout richmond sizing down

and attendence back to the eightys

you hafta look at nascar like all the businesses when it was peaking and every one put up as many seats as they could

i'll be the first to admit last yr the seats looked very empty

but the economy was a big part of that and also the prices of tickets and the bigger issue more than the racin if you ask me is nascar needs to get the motels to mellow out some even if you are working if you want to travel to a race its near impossialbe a couple can maybe swing it but take a family of 4 weeeeeeeeee so every body got greedy when times were good now they are paying for it so its not just the racin there are other factors and ya TV is down but again i just believe nascar peaked at such a high point that it just couldnt maintain that
