Flasher technology has been one of the most revolutionary components to modern ice fishing IMO. Doesn't have to be specific to Vexilar, the others have comparable features.

Allows you to target fish easily throughout the entire water column, check depths quickly and easily, and allows you to find "fishy" spots without having to even drop down a line.

If somebody asked me to go fishing, but the only rule was I couldn't bring my Vexilar, I would probably just stay home.

You Robert I have a buddy that had(has) the same attitude about flashers when I first met him. After a couple of seasons of fishing with me, he finally broke down and bought one. It took another 2 years before he would think to actually bring it with him. Now he brings it everytime we fish for panfish, tullibee, or perch. Because it does help you fish more efficantly and IMHO will help you catch more fish. Now this guy is very good at catching fish, flasher or not, he was raised old style and still has a hard time with any techy things. But even he realised, it is money well spent for more enjoyable fishing experiences.

i know, but i am not going to. my mom and i was talking about how technology is always changeing and how the usa is a capitalistic country.

Technology always changes. I see that you are using a computer, made by capitalism, to learn about fishing.

Do you use a twig & string w/ a hook made of bone to catch fish?

Look around you, everything you own & use in your daily life. This is the best country in the world. Look at the socialist/communist countries. This country is young, we have built & made things that other countries could never dream of due to the lack of OPPORTUNITY in those other countries. We are free...until we elect leaders that penalize people that work hard & get by w/ out the "help" of the government.

I hope you & your mom don't look down on the USA. Something wrong w/ capitalism?

Vexlar, Marcum, Lowrance, and Hummingbird. All made in good ol' US of A. I do not know of any other brands exist or made in any other country. I will not fish without my Lowrance. If you do not like capitalism I hear that Cuba is beutiful this time of the year. I am sure they do not use flashers there as well.

Sadly Vex is made overseas but Hummingbird and Marcum is built in the USA. While I don't live by my flasher when I cant see to sight fish I gotta have it.

I did not know that, obviously. Where are they made at? For some reason I thought that they were made in Minnesota.

i dont even have a vexilar flasher and i do just fine on finding fish.

Rob you are having a tuff time catching fish on the river? Without a flasher you wont catch 95% of the fish you would with one down there. Thats no B S. I strongly suggest you get a flasher of some sort. It will increase your catch rate by a ton.

You dont absolutley NEED one, I've caught plenty of nice walleyes without the aid of a flasher. If you know the spot you dont need one. But if you are drilling a lot of holes looking for fish or gravel\rocks\weelines or whatever, I would definetly use one.

Suspended panfish over deeper water, you'll catch a lot more with a flasher.

Bottom line you'll absolutley catch more fish faster with a flasher but I wouldnt stay home from fishing if I couldnt use one. Take some pride in being able to catch a few fish without all the fancy gadgets, nothing wrong with that.

I was anti flasher for years, and my neighbor finall got me to use one last year. I never bothered fishing for crappies before, but now that I have converted to the flasher I now go out and catch crappies all the time. I haven't spent much time on walleye this year, but it has been fun catching 40-50 fish in an evening!

if you fish the same lake over and over in the same spot for walleye then maybe you don't need one. if you like to fish different lakes for suspended craps and other fish then you will get out fished every time by someone who has one. one nice thing about the flasher is that you can see em coming in to your bait and you can tell if they get spooked if you move your bait. my favorite part while using one is seeing a fish charge your bait from 5 ft away and timing your hookset. or worst case scenerio if they aren't biting at least you know if they are there or not.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
