100 bass in a day?

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum. So a friend and I have been having an on going arguement about whether it is possible to catch 100 bass in a day.(This was brought up over a few drinks each time we have the arguement.) He says there is no way that its possible. And i disagree I think it is very possible to do. I know it all depends on the lake and many other things come into play out fishing. So my question to all of you is...have you or do you think its possible. Him and i havent been fishing for bass as long as some of the people on here so i wanted to get a few opinions on this topic.

easily possible, particularly if you don't have any further qualifications (ie size or weight). i've done it myself before on river smallmouth. given the right body of water and fishing conditions, I don't think there's much of a debate

On the right body of water, it's very doable. I fished a small lake out of my canoe two summers ago, caught over 50 in a few hours and thought to myself, this is one of those places where a guy could catch over 100 bass in a day.

in late June in MN you can start bassin' before 5 AM, and you could still have fishable light until about 10pm (plus you could fish in the dark, too, I guess). Assuming a dawn-to-dusk expedition, that would give you roughly 17 hours of fishing time. 100 bass would be an average of 6 bass an hours - one every 10 minutes - which is very doable on the right day on a good lake.

Last summer was my first year bass fishing, and I have several days where I caught 30+ bass in 5-6 hours of fishing. Close to on pace for 100, but then I'm just beginning on the low end of the learning curve smile

I would say it's definitely possible.

one time my uncle and i caught 135 walleyes in 2 hours up in Canada - it was insane. We stopped because it was getting boring. i wish we had a video camera along

woulda been a lot harder if they were bass, taken a lot longer to reel each one in smile

I have had days where I think me and the person I am fishing with could have reached 100.I know we could have done it last year, but teh guy in the back of my boat couldn't catch one to save his life smile. It really does come down to the right lake, conditions, knowledge and ability to locate fish. I don't think this would be an easy accomplishment by any means.

Once on Bay Lake near Brainerd, I caught 60 largemouths in 62 casts. Granted many were the 6-10 inchers and the largest being about 2-1/2 pounds. I know I exceeded 100 fish by the time I was done; 5 hours or so. Very doable if you ask me if, like goblueM said, if there are no size or weight restrictions to worry about.

Ditto on do-able. I don't know if I'd call it 'very do-able' as much as the guys posting above, but some people have surely done it.

I've done 60-70 (we stopped counting lol) smallies between two guys in about 3-4 hours in Canada. If it was just one of us, that person would probably have hit the 50 mark.

There are places that are "the right place", and if you hit it at the right time, and you have enough time, 100 in a day is sure possible.

IMO smallies would be easier than LMB, I have a much harder time finding large schools of LMB, at the most I only see maybe 4-10 together.

My best largie day of my life was 2 guys in the boat... 228 bass( I know for a fact I was over 150 for the day)... I have been over the 100 mark for 2 guys a few different time.. by myself, I dont thin kI have ever tried.. I had a day last year that was well over 100 for 2 people. Its all about the right timing, right weather, and right body of water.

It is possible in my opinon. I have come as close as high 80's once. That was on a perfect set of circumstances day. Quality fish in a shallow water bite. Long set of pencil reeds that were full of fish. They were both inside and outside. Many times multiple fish from one little cut. When I left the fish were still biting, I am sure I could have made the century mark but did not think about it until later. My thumb was raw. Never broke the 5lb mark that day, but the numbers of 2.5 to 4.25 lb fish were close to unbelievable, I did not catch a short fish that entire day, fished from about 7:00 am til 1:00 pm. I have never experienced a day like that since. A friend was fishing the same lake at the same time but got a later start and was in the low 70's when he quit that day. I will say that any day over 30 decent fish is one heck of a day if your fishing alone, or even with a partner.

I think i heard someone say river smallies...

One morning this fall i was out fishin the river and the smallies would not stop biting. Not exactly close to 100 but I was out there for only a couple of hours. I can see a 100 bass day happening though.

that would be a blast.

Definitely doable without size restrictions, especially river smallies. We stayed at a resort in MI (family reunion, no boat). Did bring an UL GLoomis, asst'd lures, hooks, sinkers, floats (you never know). Found a river nearby with a large pool (think roughly twice as big as the Railroad Pool in Lester River, Duluth). Crawling with smallies. Min. size was 15 inches. A local told me they don't live to see 14. In about three hours I caught at least 75 with none over 13 inches (Average a fish every 2.4 minutes, yes if not quicker, it was that ridiculous.). This went on for all five days I fished it. I didn't care. I was fishing during a week when I thought I would not, BONUS!!!

Definitely possible. I don't think I've ever hit 100, but I've come awfully close a few times.

If you're going to try it, my only tip is use a good rod- I didn't fish for a couple weeks after using my walleye/panfish rod on one of those days. Its embarrassing what 50-60 1-3 lb bass can do to you with an ultralight and 4lb test (also a great story for why your golf game is off that weekend).

I dont know if I've ever gotten up to 100, but I've had days that were 20-30 smallies per hour, per person. We just got tired of sitting after a while and headed home. Where we were it was an every cast type of thing. Drop a lure 1-2 ft from shore and pull it out. Boom. Over and over.
