Thats the problem with DISH 2 sats, Their right next to eachother BUT 110 is so hard to tune in!! Just about need the meter or whatever the tuning device is.At home we tried for hours had 119 fine and hit 110 now and then took our hands off the dish and it was gone.Called DISH out and he explained how hard it is to get both without the meter,He had it tuned in in about 2 minutes.

Direct has 1 sat!! for all the channels and soon as my contract is up with DISH (APRI)L Its back to Direct just for this reason.

I was able to get my locals on sat. 119 transponder 10 or 19. If you can find 119 start moving your dish east. I am able to pick up 119 or 110. A freind of mine always uses 110 up on lotw and is able to get all of his local channels with less signal strength.

I had similar problem when putting my Dish on cabin. My problem was that you need to have it angled (think moving it clockwise when look at the face of it) as well as aimed at the right location. I can't recall the degree, but either 4 or 14 sounds familiar (for crosslake area anyway). Then it came in awesome.

So what type of meter is it and how hard/expensive are they? Seems like buying a meter may be a lot easier than trying to get a service call out on Mille Lacs.

You can buy one online for $15-20

You have Azimuth, which is the degree from a compass. Elevation, which is degree from the horizon and Skew angle, which is the rotation of the dish, like you were talking about.

Mille Lacs area is the same as my home area

202° Azimuth

34° Elevation

109° Skew

The mounting pole the dish is mounted to MUST be level all the way around.

I'm going to begin by guess that you have a Winegard crank up dish on your Ice Castle and not a specific Dish Network dish. The Winegard dish has only a single LNB and therefore will only allow for you to pick up one satellite at a time, thus causing you to have either 119 or 110. Let me know what kind of dish you actually have and we can go from there. There are also a bunch of other factors that could be involved here as well such as what dish you have at home, have you completed a check switch, bad LNB and the list goes on and on. The settings on the dish are pretty much the same for the entire state. Elevation set to 33-34, Azimuth 202, and skew set to 110 for a Dish 500.

I'd be willing to run a service call to Mille Lacs area and get everything working and give you some valuable information for your next attempt. I'd like to line up a few other service calls in the area to make it affordable for you and make it worth while for me.

I used to be a Dish customer (one of the first) but due to tree problems, the Direct is the only one that will pickup satellites at my house (it stands a little higher and their satellites are apparently higher in the sky). Anyway, I have my original Dish antennae sitting in the garage (back then you bought them) and I'm wondering if it's possible to use the Dish antennae to pick up a Direct TV signal (with Direct receiver)??? Maybe change the LMB?
