Pflueger Trion Casting Reels

I don't know if any company can be worse than Abu when it comes to replacement parts. I've had a Revo that has needed a new worm gear that i have been waiting on since May. I really like the reel but the service has been lousy.

If/when it needs service or parts, they are not nearly as easy to get as Daiwa or the other brand that starts with S and ends with himano... or even Abu's

I've actually been fairly pleased with their customer service for parts when needed. Granted I'm not a huge fan of their warranty on most reels, but they've gotten me new bail springs and other minor parts within a week of every request I've made. Small price on the parts and no shipping cost has made me pretty happy. Just sayin' that I don't think their customer service is bad by any means.

I have one. Probably only put about 20 days of fishing on it, and it was fine. I will tell you this, my standards aren't horribly high. If the line goes out, the handle turns, and the line comes back I am happy. Deitz can confirm that I fish with some Before Christ gear, so I marvel at reels and rods that don't creek and groan in my hands.

I assume you're talking about the low profile Trion?

I've had 2 for over five years, and I love 'em. They're not made to exacting tolerances, but I've found them highly reliable and that's what really matters to me. They can't be beat for value.

P.S. I'll second those impressed by ABU's customer service. When dealing directly with the folks in Spirit Lake, IA I've never waited more than 3 or 4 days to receive parts via regular mail.

Run quite a few through my guide service, the older style and have one new style.. They get a lot of use and all have held up fine.. I love the wide spool version as they seem to be a bit better on the backlash issue for my clients.. For the price, you will be very happy!!

The trions arrived on Friday in time to catch a couple bass over the weekend. My initial impression was a good one. After an easy adjustment to the brake system (the brakes are totally disengaged out of the box) they casted well and were smooth on the retrieve. I noticed that Cabelas sold out of their stock, but I saw the same reel discounted on other sites.

So I stumbled across this thread while I was searching. I bought a Pflueger Trion LP last summer as my first baitcaster and I really like it! I am wanting to get another baitcaster, I stumbled upon a deal where I could get the round Pflueger Trion 46 used for $25. The picture makes it look in pretty good condition. I was just curious if anyone had any experience with the Round Trion's. With a quick search it seems like the 46 has 5 BB, one anti-reverse bearing. Line cap of 12/125. Gear Ratio - 5.3:1. Weighs 10.2 OZ. It's on the left in the picture.

tip! With the 46 be sure to use enough line/backing so the spool is almost full. These reals aren't very big and you will get better results with a almost full spool.

Thanks for the tip that's good to know, I was assuming its pretty small if it only takes 125 yards of 12lb mono, more than likely I will be using PP so that's not a problem.
