Coach1310
So, now that it is done, where do we go from here??Does Maturi get the luxury of hiring another "gem" of his??
walleyeking19
I've heard Paul Chryst's name floating around more lately. (The Badgers offensive coordinator) As a badger fan, i dont like that idea. He's a offensive genious
zepman
I just heard on KFAN that the Vikings Leslie Frazier would be interested in this job if offered. An interesting tie between Frazier and Tony Dungy...who is said to also be "helping" with this process.I would like to see them hire an up and commer from the college ranks...I just don't think a guy like Frazier would stick around very long. Big Tom
Maturi should have followed him out the door.
zepman
I would think Lucia is on very thin ice also.
toughguy
Maybe Frazier could teach the Gophers to tackle. He has the Vikings doing a great job in that dept.
MUSKY18
Maturi said in his press conference that the U would stick some money out there and hire a "big name" coach, but honestly, what does that get the U? He comes in and possibly turns that program around and then shuffles off to the NFL and the U hires another tight end coach from Middle BFE State? Lets get an up and comer that is going to stay around for a while.
mrklean
its about time lets turn this program around
JIvers
its about time lets turn this program around It's only been fifty years--success is just around the corner! In all seriousness, I sometimes fear the Gophers are the Detroit Lions of Big Ten football. No matter what, the U of M ALWAYS seems to make not only the wrong decision regarding their football team, but the absolute worst possible decision. Like the Lions, the Gophers' ability to do the wrong thing every time defies all logic...
Musky Buck
It's ugly, I don't get that feeling like there is much U tradition. I'll take my chances on hiring someone that can turn the program around and leave if they want to, we better turn it around regardless before good recruits take there skills elsewhere which is what is happening now. That big horse from Cretin last year and how about that Wisc. kid from MN who had that huge kick return for the badgers vs Ohio St., we need these guys or some of them to stay here. creepworm
It just seems that the U always struggles and I am not sure that bringing a big name head coach in would help. Has Tubby helped the basketball program all that much. I just don't know what it will take for the U to compete with the rest of the big ten. You gotta remember all the suspensions and tranfers they have had to deal with.
