Packers squeak by!

classic Lions... play good enough to win, but shoot themselves in the foot time and time again

maybe one day they'll actually put everything together for a whole game... and maybe even a few games in a row!

Wow, the national media's super bowl pick to this point is very average. Basically got a beat down by the worst team in football. Good thing the refs missed Woodsons more than obvious hold on Detroits last offensive play or very well could have lost. Lost in every way but the score and thats all that matters.

Detriot had 24 1st dows and 430 yards and still found a way to lose. I am beginning to feel bad for this club.

The ray of sunshine is that the Packers, when faced with a chance to end the game, effectively ran the ball on the Lions thereby running out the clock and winning the game. They aren't many things that they are doing well, but at 3-1 they are doing well enough and my cheese brain makes me think that they'll start to peak around the right time.

That encouraged me as well. Considering how little time the Lions D spent on the field, they were pretty fresh at the end of the game, and still we were able to make it happen when it counted the most. Barely! shocked

Soooo much to work on. Sigh.

Most teams (ahem, Vikings) would be happy to be 3-1 at this point in the season. We can all make Tim Brewster-esque excuses but all that matters is the win column. Are we meeting all of the sportswriter's hype, no. What matters to me is the potential and I see a lot of it on this team.

...and it just got worse:

Veteran safety Atari Bigby cannot return from the physically unable to perform list soon enough.

Bigby underwent ankle surgery in early August and will be eligible to come off PUP after Week 6. The Packers need him as coach Mike McCarthy announced at his press conference this afternoon that rookie safety Morgan Burnett, who has been starting, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL suffered in Sunday’s 28-26 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Derrick Martin took Burnett’s place during the game but the Packers will surely want to turn to the experienced Bigby when he is able to get on the field. It’s a big blow for the Packers, who liked Burnett so much they traded up in the third round to draft him at a position that didn’t look like a big area of need.

Martin will get picked apart by McNabb next week. I actually sorta like Charlie Peprah better but who knows if he'll be healthy in time. Two games is a long time for the Packers to wait to find out if Bigby is really back to health. We'll know real soon because the Packers will get a free agent safety if they have concerns about Bigby's ability to successfully come off the PUP list.

Gotta take the win. Not pretty but, considering they are banged up and far from playing good ball yet, it is what it is. MM's teams always seem to play average the first half of the year and then peak the second half. (7-1 last year).

Gotta love the power running with Kuhn at the end of the game. The run blocking has been mediocre at best, so that was good to see.

Losing Burnett hurts its a bummer for a good young player to have a serious injury like that. He was still pretty raw but doing fine for a rookie. I prefer Peprah to Martin, but not sure he is healthy enough to play yet. Bigby has been pretty average the last few years, so I don't really expect much, but if healthy he should be able to at least hold down the fort so Collins and Woodson can make plays.

- Morgan Burnett is out for the season

- Nick Barnett is likely out for the season, pending a second opinion, with the same wrist injury that took Urlacher out last season.

- Nick Collins has a sprained knee and may not be playing for a while

- Brandon Chillar might be done for the season, but his shoulder has a better recovery chance than Barnett's. He's also getting a second opinion

So in the span of about a week, the Packers lost both starting safeties, a starting linebacker, and their nickel linebacker who was also their top backup.

I feel like Cerrano at the end of Major League, when he says to Jobu, "If you no help me now....." If Ted Thompson doesn't make a free agent move now, then I'm officially off of his band wagon.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
