Twins 2010 MVP = Michael Cuddyer?

Twin's MVP???? Voted by the players correct?

I gotta think it will be between Cuddy and Young, because of their "ironman" year....been there EVERY GAME....Young has been phenomenal in rbi situations, lousy fielder, doesn't "work the counts" often enough. Cuddy has been great with position flexibility, consistent .270+, with power, works the counts to get on base however possible. With the players voting, the vote will tell us a lot about the clubhouse moralle/ leadership. Whoever has been instrumental in keeping the TEAM FOCUSED ON TEAM, will win it. There are few teams that could survive losing a Morneau quality player 1/2 the year, and all the other injuries we have had this year....and still play ABOVE THEIR HEADS. Thome has been great this year, but he's a DH, probably won't win it. Valentia has been great, but hasn't been up long enough to win. Morneau and Mauer haven't been themselves, so are out. I would vote for CO-MVP'S....CUDDY and YOUNG.....impossible to imagine the TWINS being where they are without EITHER ONE.

I forgot about the pitchers.....Starters pitch every fifth day, and would have to DOMINATE to make MVP. Pavano has been steady, and valuable, but.....doesn't dominate. Dunsing and Rauch and Crain have been valuable, but NOT DOMINANT. All 4 COULD get votes, but won't win. In my mind there are only 2 MVP choices....CUDDY or YOUNG...or co.

The local writers listed their top 5 today. Mauer liriano young thome pavano in that order. Don't thik you can rule out mauer just because his numbers are lower than last year. They are still very good compared to others on the team.

I just want to throw my to cents worth here. I know we all like him and he has quickly become the fan favorite, but I truly think that Jim Thome is the the MVP of this club, even being a part time player. If a pitcher has any chance (plays 1 in 5 days) Thome has a great chance. His bat is responsible for enough wins this year to warrant his inclusion. His clubhouse presence(from what we hear) has been priceless. He also has without a doubt put people in the seats just to see him. My parents have not been big into baseball my whole life, but now they don't miss a game because they want to watch Thome hit. I don't think there is any other players on this team (excluding Maurer & Morneau, hometown boy & hasn't played for to long) that can do that to the fans. He has just made the games he has played that much more exciting.

Just researched who votes....THE TW. CITIES SPORTSWRITERS.....YUCK,YUCK,YUCK!

Talk about incompetent......I predict they will vote for Mauer....sells papers. The people who SHOULD vote are the TEAM (players). They are the ONLY ones who really understand value to the TEAM. Sportswriters my xzqx.......

The MVP for the Twins for me would be Gardy.

Thanks Harvey!... grin

For the entire season I'd go.....

1..Mauer.....

2...Young.....

3...Thome

To break it down I think Delmon and Pavano were the 1st half MVP's with Hudson a close 3rd.

2nd half I think you have to go Mauer followed by Valencia, Thome and pretty much the entire pitching staff.

As valuable as Cuddyer is to the team I certainly wouldn't call this an MVP season but I get all the praise he gets from baseball people close to the situation. Gardy was saying the same thing back in July that Cuddyer may be the MVP. It's a bit of stretch "MVP" IMO but Cuddyer has been huge this year all things considered.

Cuddy sure looked good on that grounder last night. It really drives me nuts when he gets the count in his favor (2-0, 2-1) and watches a couple right down the chute then has to wave at sliders the rest of the at bat. The guy drives me nuts.
