Pintails

Wundering if anybody would beable to give me an area where a guy would beable to shoot a few pintails, like what part of the state do they come thru in and when they migrate south. i have all the birds mounted but i have yet to see one of these, so any info on this would be great. i am located in the park rapids area

There's a little spot just west of northern minnesota and east of Montana. Serioulsy I have seen very few pintails around central MN so I cant help you out.

As the saying goes go west young man... Ive only seen a handfull of pintails and blew my chance some years back on Mille lacs but have never seen any there since.

I shot my first two drake pintails of my life last year. One was shot near Waconia, the other (four days later) was shot near Hutchinson. Good luck.

I've only shot a drake Pintail once at the rice patties but it did not have that long sprig as they get in January. So your best chance for true pintail is to go south to LA, ARK and so on but taxidermist can put a fake sprig on for ya.

no better place to shoot a fully plumed pintail than texas. we will probably get into our fair share in south dakota this fall; the limit is 2 per day and numbers are way up, so maybe i'll get lucky and get one with a tail.

I have shot them on pelican lake before. Also shot them out in the western part of the state around Morris and of course in Manitoba (shot lots in MB).

I usually see a few each year. Seems to be a couple of them mixed in with a flock of about forty mallard.

ive seen and shot pintails all season long out in western minnesota the biggest problem in minnesota is its very rare to get a mountable bird

There are bunch on Pelican Lake(Wright County).

Saw them when I was out there fishing a couple weeks ago.

Mallards, in fact a lot of the time they will be mixed in with a flock of mallards.
