Trailer for jig and pig?

Just curious what you guys like for a trailer for a jig and pig? I really like the 4" chigger craw, but they are not very durable. It seems like one or two fish and the legs are torn especially with pike. I like the chigger craw also because it works well when swimming the jig. Does anyone use something simular to the chigger craw that is a lot more durable?

dan- if you go to something that is less durable, you will loose action. Plain and simple. I have been using a new Mr. Twister Prototype this year, if all goes well, it will hit the market next spring. I use a Hitch Series trailer hitch and that helps it from getting beat up at the connection point to the jig, but I still loose legs at times to pike/sunfish.. But thats part of fishing.

Hiya -

I've gotten to like the Strike King Rage Chunk this season. A little more compact than a chigger craw, and fairly durable. They kick on the fall a lot and tend to slow the descent down, which I like, especially fishing weedlines.

This reminds me - I need to go get some more before this weekend. Burned through my last bag on Saturday...

Cheers,

I like to use Beaver style baits as a trailer when I'm pitchin' a jig.

The top, name brand baits are all great but a little spendy, especially when you end up with a pile of dead ones on the floor of your boat each trip. I started buying off-brand Beavers in bulk to reduce the cost.

Like Deitz mentioned, I also use the Hitch Series Trailer Hitch to help hold my trailer in place so it doesn't slip down the hook. This has really help to get a lot more life out of each trailer. Fewer dead ones on the floor each trip and less time spent re-rigging!

I like the strike King Rage Craw and the Net Bait packa craw although I do loose legs I love the action of these baits.

I found that when I am skipping docs with a jig they always want to tear off or slide down the hook so I started using the Hitch Series Trailer Hitch and that fixed the problem. I don't even think skipping without trailer hitch.

I like using the chunk sling better than the hitch. They are hard to find but work better in my opinion and give the option of using a rattle.

I haven't seen the chunk sling, sounds cool. I have had success using northland rattles with the trailer hitch series. You just need to put the hitch and the rattle in the same groove right behind the skirt. It works great for me.
