walleyehunter80
I dont know what is different this year from the last other than the amount of DUCKS around. I spend hundreds of miles every weekend scouting geese (750) inthe last two weekends to be exact and I have seen more ducks this year than I have in the last 10-12 seasons. Very excited for opener and the rest of the duck season just not sure where to hunt, everywhere seems to be holding birds just hard to pick where the most are. Anyone else seeing more birds than normal?

Stringerless!
Not seeing any more than normal around the metro. Does not matter to me . I would do it ALL even if the limit was only 1!
#fishhunt#
Saw no less than 500 ducks last two Saturdays ago in the evening piling into a spot I hunt in west central MN on public land. There were 2 flocks that had 100 birds in them if the had 1. By far the most ducks I have seen in years. Must have been a great hatch. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we don't hit 32 degrees by opener since 75% of the ducks were woodies and teal. Love this time of year. Bow hunting this weekend then in two weeks duck hunting, then pheasant. How great is that. Does anyone else's work kind of suffer this time of year? I'm taking a guess but I don't think I get as much done.
Finlander
Better get your camera to take pictures of the ducks now! When the duck season opens %75 of those ducks will be gone here in Minnesota! I saw Pintails Saturday morning!
PierBridge
I'm seeing WAY more ducks with all the rain and new area's for them versus the big water and rivers that have held the Birds the last few years.
Quackaddict9
Lots of water in fields where I was hunting last weekend, ducks have plenty of fields with water to loaf or feed during the day. The numbers were excellent, just like the past 5 years. The last field to have sheet water will be a hit on opener...that is if it does not rain much anymore. Ha Ha Ha. I'm still waiting. I'm keeping the glass half full for a while.
Beast26
Most of the teal and plenty of woodies will be gone if the weather man is correct. Add to that youth waterfowlers scaring a ton of birds to death this coming weekend and it may be a tough opener in MN. There is a ton of water everywhere in the upper midwest and in Canada. The hatch this year was REALLY good according to what I have seen and heard.

Musky Buck
Like last October we set an october record for rainfall and that didn't do squat for ducks hanging around etc., sure they left like the usual star and trib report just before opener, early cold snap sent teal, woodies and local mallards out before it opened etc. Certainly some counties are hanging in there better than others but it's pitiful, admit it, if you hunted the 80's it's embarassing really, we were somewhat close to what the dakota's are today, somewhat, I have toured my old duck haunts and have put away the duck loads again for the 11th straight year, stickin to honkers only and I certainly get to watch my duck areas hunting geese and it's empty, the ponds are empty, the beaver was wiped out, and the river is flowing to fast for the mallards, and no youth season on those ponds, I'd let youth but why to not get a chance to pull the trigger, it's sad and we've tried to create habitat planting wild rice and then some, it's to bad. Here's a good idea lets keep wiping out lakeshoreline and vegetation, the lakes we hunted in the 80's are done, ringed with cabins all the way around and tons of veg removed yearly, we should've been protecting some shoreline years ago, anyway, good luck to those that are seeing birds in a few weeks and man I had a short duck season, I'm not going lol, season over, took 1 minute. My reli's roughly 20 of us used to hunt ducks, we're all done, it's sad to see tradition go away but we all agree we can sleep in and meet for lunch and whist if we want family time. We have a bet on who has more dust on their deke's, I'm leading with 7 1/4"
