RiverFish
The Bears are the only one I would be leary of the next three games. You never know what can happen on the road.
snoozebutton
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/102985794.html Quote:Green Bay - Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked Wednesday what he would say to the Packers if they asked for his opinion about a possible deal for disgruntled Bills running back Marshawn Lynch, Rodgers' former Cal teammate."Bring him on," Rodgers said, without hesitation. Not even with his character knocks?"He's a great player," Rodgers said of Lynch. "And any character issues the team might see, I think in a situation like that, and I think you've seen that with other players across the league, when you give a guy a change of scenery and a guy like that who feels he might have something to prove, and surround him with two guys, (Desmond) Bishop and myself who played with him...I think that can only help him feel comfortable and see a lot of production."Rodgers said the Packers have not asked him about Lynch, and that Rodgers and Lynch have not spoken.Yahoo!Sports columnist Michael Silver, another Cal grad (sensing a pattern here?), wrote a column about how much sense a Packers-Lynch union would make.Any deal appears to be a long shot. Silver reported Lynch might not even be on the block. And that before the draft, the Bills turned down an offer of a third-round pick and a player for Lynch.Even a third-round pick would likely be too rich for Ted Thompson. mrklean
please make a deal for lynch, my guess is they could get him for almost nothing he is 3rd on the roster list and mad cant be good for the locker room there
Cooter
I didn't get to watch any of the game yesterday but the final score looked good. My dad said Matthews was an animal again. Ready to take on da Bears next week. Didn't see any of that game either but heard they beat the Cowgirls in Dallas - should be a good game in Chicago with the Pack getting win number 3. Overall what did I miss yesterday - both good and bad?
mrklean
i listened to it on the radio on the way home, 2nd quarter was BAD, didnt really seem like jackson did a great job of running but ok, still wouldnt mind seeing lynch come to the pack but they were saying on the after show buffalo wanted Hawk for him, that im not cool with, i think AJ is gonna have a good year
Cooter
I forgot his name but did the rookie running back they signed play at all?
SkunkedAgain
I wouldn't mind having Lynch. I like Grant in general but aside from his first season in 2007 (and you can quote all of the 2008 and 2009 yardage stats that you want), he hasn't been the guy that can win games for you. I like Brandon Jackson but think that he is best in his secondary role.Hawk has never sizzled. I never see him play with fire. He seems like a classic 9-5pm office guy, content that he did what was written in the playbook but nothing more. I don't think you lose much with Bishop, seeing as he has more fire and is a better run stopper. AJ isn't good in pass coverage either (although better than Bishop) but they tend to pull Hawk for Chillar anyway.I say trade Hawk and get a game changer on offense. We'll see a slight drop-off to Bishop but I think it'll be more than offset by the gain with Lynch. The new running back did play a couple of snaps from what I heard during the broadcast. He didn't do much but I think McCarthy just wanted to get the kid's feet wet.
mnwild
I see Larry Johnson was cut today. What do you think the odd's of them going after him, I am sure they could get him cheap. My opinion, go for it they need the help at running back and he could shine in this offense.
CJH
Zero. He's got nothing left in the tank. He had 5 carries for 2 yards this year. There's a reason they cut him DURING the season.
mrklean
sign him to the pratice squad
CJH
sign him to the pratice squad Not eligible. That's why free agent vets hang out there a while. Adalius Thomas still being a FA is an example of this, of course he wants too much money. He'll just hang out there until someone gets desperate. CJH
i want to see clay matthews rip some heads off +1!! I hope he can keep up half of what he has been doing the first two weeks. I would take that the rest of the season in a second!!!
SkunkedAgain
The Bears o-line was letting the Cowboys get after Cutler early on. That line is terrible. Hopefully they have to devote extra players to block Matthews (like Buffalo did) so it messes with their offense.Man, traveling to Soldier Field for a Packer/Bear game is at the top of my wish list. I wish I could go.
snoozebutton
Hey Packer fans, this thread was burried on page 3, where is everyone? Anyhoo, what a great football weekend, Badgers beat Iowa, Pack wins, Vikes and Bears lose. Does it get any better than that?
Steve Foss
Ooops, I was busy correcting mathematical errors made by fanatical Vikings watchers on the Pack/Vikes thread. GO PACK!!!!!
SkunkedAgain
Well, it was a win but I'm still critical of how good the Packers are right now. A defensive line of CJ Wilson, Jurius Wynn, and BJ Raji won't cut it for long. The Packers also need Al Harris and Atari Bigby back, although I think that Charlie Peprah has done a surprisingly good job at filling in for Burnett. The running game is still a mess and Rodgers has not gotten on page with his receivers for more than a quarter at a time. I'm forever optimistic but forever analyzing.
mrklean
has there been any talk when harris and bigby will be back? there were rumors they would come back last night but nope. Still happy how the o-line hasn't let rodgers get killed, no sacks last night when last year jarred allen had like 7 in the 2 games
SkunkedAgain
Certainly Clifton was the big difference. He hasn't had a great year so far but he rose to the occasion in a big game. That gives me hope. Bulaga put together a nice game in Tauscher's spot. Ray Edwards is not an easy man to block. The papers have been eerily silent about Bigby and Harris. Even before they were cleared to practice it seemed that reporters weren't doing any research. Is it that hard to interview them? Is it that hard to get an honest assessment out of the coach or GM? Well, maybe the latter is but you could talk to players too. Those two will definitely help out a Packer team that has placed 8 players on season-ending IR, and missing 9 permanently if you include Jolly. CJH
Poppinga and Neal are also going to be out for the rest of the year now.Picket re-aggravated his ankle, Jenkins pulled his calf right before game time, and Brad Jones sprained his shoulder.Harris and Bigby's status will be determined by the end of the week. With Pop and Neal on the IR, it does open up 2 spots, however I wouldn't be surprised to see them add another DLine if at all possible. The rumor has been that Harris is in better shape and will come back before Bigby, but who knows.
