Bingo. I have to share this story...so my dad and I were casting shorlines with minimum sucess. I was getting a bit tired of repetative casting, not to mention keeping the boat in position in 15mph winds with cloud cover and 50 degree weather. In a matter of a half hour it went from cold and windy to calm, sunny and warm. I was just about to take off my jacket when I decided to take one more cast. I casted out and started talking to my dad about swithching locations. I had completed about a third of the retrieve when I looked back at my lure to see a huge brookie following close behind it. I was startled and "froze" which caused me to stop the retrieve. My brain took about one second to comprehend the size of the fish and I started reeling again. BAM!! - the fish smacked the bait as soon as I started reeling. It was a nerve-racking battle all the way to the boat, but we managed to land the fish of a lifetime!
