I got a hit! one for two. playing the lazy man hunt this year as I have limited time with work and baiting.

So I'm hunting a pretty hard it area this year on public land. Everyone is hunting as far back as the ATV trails allow so I decided, what the heck, I'll place one right at the head of the trail. Well, it worked! I've seen no other hunters this close to the parking lot. I figure it'll be good until small game and archery open, then there maybe to much traffic but then again, I hope to have one in the freezer by then!

UND, that second bear looks like a shooter to me. the ears look small and are spread out, and the bear appears to have decent paws. I wouldn't pass if he came into my bait. The first bear kinda looks like a sow to me, has a melon head but appears to be quite a bit smaller.

Thanks for the input....I am not 100% percent sure but I have a series of pics and I think both of the pics are of the same bear. There is two other small bears (last years cubs) that are hitting this bait also. Yeah, it does have a pretty good set of paws.....

7 of 8 on baits so far. The bears spun one camera so no good pictures from that, the other camera was sitting on a bait who's only customers were a blonde sow with 3 cubs. Hopefully she passes those genetics on (all these cubs were black however).

Still 0 for 2. Have a good feeling about 1 of the sites, will have to wait and see. Now I am looking for a spot for a 3rd site. Spent most of the day yesterday out in the woods looking at somes areas a coworker used to bear hunt.

UND--- looks like you put the cam up in the tree looking down on your bait? is that working good? The bears have broken a bracket off mine already and the other isnt gonna last too long taking that kinda beating. I tried to only touch the cam with clean rubber gloves on and spray it down with scent killer but it doesnt work. even during the day they go over and smack it around the tree

Yeah - I put it up about 10 feet high in a small diameter tree....I was having problems w/ bears ripping the camera down. It seems to help so far. Alot of nice pics on here so far.....

Question - How do you guys guys get out of your stand with bears around if you are hunting by yourself? I want to try to shoot a nice bear this year, and wondering what is the best way to get out if you have smaller bears around w/o ruining your stand???
