Just a report I don't work for Lindy though I would never turn it down.

Last weekend I picked up the sie 5 in perch to try at the cabin. My dad and I trolled in about 7-10 fow since often fish are spread out. He had on a Rapala and I had the shadling. Both caught fish but the shadling outfished him 4-1. I ended up with several waleyes, 3 huge crappies and even a 30 inch musky. I would defintely reccommend others trying them. We were trolling using 6 lb test and maybe 60 feet of line. The lures were running about 7 feet down and the fish really where crushing them. Does anybody else have any tips or techniques for using these?

Thanks for the report - I picked up a few this spring, but have not used them much. Been having a hard time NOT using my Reef Runners - they flat out work for me. I'll have to give the new Shadlings a try. I've been targeting 12-20+' FOW, it will give me an excuse to play with the new lead core setup grin

Lindy Shadlings are great lures. We have been pulling both the #5's and #7's this season with great results. Most of the trolling has been in conjuntion with leadcore line to reach the 20 foot range. I have also been casting these to both shorlines and wingdams and had good success.

Far and away the Red Tail Chub pattern has definatly been the most consistant producer this year on multiple bodies of water ranging from Mississippi River all the way up to Detroit Lakes.

I would definatly pick a couple up that match the natural forage in your lake. They have relistic finishs and hold up to teeth very well.

I used the perch color and it is very stained water but the fish could still pick up on it really well. They also have shiners in the lake so I may pick up one of those a s well (maybe the deeper diving one)

I have all of the #5 and #7 Shadlings and have enjoyed using them this summer. Perch has served me very well but I should try some of the other colors.

Seems I always find myself trying the perch color first and most times do not stray from that color. One lake near home has been good with these cranks.

Upper Red Lake's red water is no match for the Lindy Shadlings. They have been producing to epic porportions in the stained water. The Yellow Perch and Dace colors have been great.

Is it true? Do they run true out of the box?

Depends what body of water and what the forage base is. For instance on Lake Superior Smelt style baits work far better than shad style. At least in my experiences.

They do run true out of the box. Only had 2 that didnt.

Shadlings do run great out of the box. The Reef Runners you listed can be great fish catching lures but they are known for the tuning issues. As far as shad type baits over the banana style lures it just depends on the lake, fish, forage or day.

I own approximatly 25 shadlings and can only remember one of them needing adjustments.

Yes sir they do. I have been using the #7 for speed trolling pike up to and beyond six miles per hour and they swim like an arrow flies. I am even pulling them with some seriously nasty line and they do well but I have noticed putting a Lindy crankbait snap in front of them really frees up the action behind stiff line.

So after reading two posts concerning the Lindy Shadling I decided to buy some and see what all the hype was about. I fish from varied locations.... Boat, docks/piers, shore, and waders, so I decided I needed to get at least one #5 and a #7. When I saw the patterns I had a hard time deciding between bluegill, perch and shiner. So I picked up two #7's, one perch and one gill. Then I got the #5 in shiner. I LOVE these cranks and I have yet to troll them.

I took my son to a local pier last night for a few hours and I got a hit on the first cast. Fish missed, and I quickly tossed it back out and I got hit again. It was just a 16" LM, but at least it caught something(something some of my Rapalas have yet to accomplish). By the end of the evening, I also caught a handful of small eyes. I haven't tried the bluegill pattern yet, but I don't see any reason that won't produce as well.

I used the #5's in Red Shad, and Golden Shiner. Red Shad worked better for me trolling for bass and walleyes. BUT, I lost nearly every fish. Has this been the experience with you guys? I checked my hooks, they are the same as those on a #5 Shad Rap. Switching to the Shad Rap resulted in all fish being caught. It happened so often my boy remarked that the lure was jinxed!

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
