Just walked in the door from a 2-day trip to Lake Okiboji (Iowa). Great time! The two of us boated well over 120 fish. Nothing big, the largest was just over 3-pounds. Only one brown bass, one sheephead and all the rest were green fish. Heading back down next week for some more Bass Thumb time.

Is the first part of the season in Iowa catch and release only? Not that I really care, I release all the bass I catch anyway but I was just wondering if they do the same deal as Wisconsin.

The west lake is not as clear as it usually is, that being said it is still quite clear compared to most lakes. The east lakes are usually muddy and are so this year. The west lake was still cool, but most of the bays and canals are in the 50's.

why are the bass so small there?

The bass are far from small there. It will typically take over a three pound average to cash a check down there. Just depends on if your fun fishing or tournament fishing. I'm pretty sure I know where you were Wayne. wink Same thing I do for a fun trip down there. Heck, next weekend half the money will be won that way. (If we get a little warmer weather.)
