Someone Explain To Me

Why the Indians (who will probably lose 100+ games this year) and Sox game was the Fox game of the week? We have a great new ballpark, they shoulda thrown us a bone. BTW, I know the Royals will probably stink this year, but they will probably finish ahead of the Indians, and well, we all know the Twins will win the Central.

I watched the game on FSN today....

Me too, but when it was over, I noticed the Fox game of the week. We shoulda got a national game. No love for the Twins. When they win it all this year, hopefully that changes.

Im pretty sick of hearing about Target field the whole entire game, every game. I cant wait until next year when they can focus more on the game itself and the players.

I agree to a point. Still think they shoulda put a roof on it. This springs been a very rare exception to the rule as far as weathers concerned. it is usually still pretty cold out most days. But that place is gorgeous from what I have seen on TV. One setback to me this year is all the day games, sorry, but most of us have to work and I missed 3 games this past week because they were done by the time I got home. Gonna be alot of that this season

The Twins are scheduled to play on the FOX national game of the week more than any other team this year. I believe the max they can schedule any one team for that is 9 times and that's how many times they scheduled the Twins.

I went to the Wednesday game vs. the Red Sox. Rained for about 6 innings, and nobody seemed to care. We do need to get an umbrella ban in place however. Fantastic park, had a great time. Go see for your self and you will understand the excitement. All of my Twins games had been indoors prior to this, I was speechless upon seeing the field for the first time.

Everybody is speechless upon seeing the field for the first time.

It was incredible, most fun I've had at a game EVER, just sitting in the rain behind the Red Sox dug-out was surreal!

After going to game I just cringe thinking about a retractable roof and how it would have ruined this Park. UGGGGH!

How many of those are home games?

Retractable roofs are for pansies! grin Seattle is the only place where a retractable roof is appropiate.

Came across this stat while trying to find the number of cancellations in a season when we played at the met. Proves that roofs are a HUGE waste of money!!!

Postponements at Selected Parks

April 2004 through May 2006

Yankee Stadium (7)

Fenway Park (11)

Camden Yards (7)

Comerica Park (4)

US Cellular Field* (3)

Jacobs Field (4)

Kauffman Stadium (4)

Shea Stadium (3)

Citizen Bank Park* (7)

Busch Stadium II* and III (2)

Great American Ballpark (1)

Wrigley Field (2)

PNC Park (10)

*some data was missing

In that time span, a total of 2457 games were played at these ballparks. 65 cancellations makes for a 2.6% rate. Added a roof is what...an extra $100 million dollars? Basically what I'm saying is...prepare for the weather or watch the game on tv! wink

I thought the same thing until I looked at the schedule to see if there would be another Saturday afternoon game that I could drive down for and there are just the get away games on Sundays that start at 1:10. My guess is we will start the season and maybe end with more early games just because it will be warmer out.

1. They may be thinking that business people may cut work and take in an afternoon game.

B. They may not get many families early in the year on school nights.

III. It is usually warmer during the day than the night, and this time of year that could be significant.

One thing I did appreciate about the day game was the lack of traffic getting there. I'm just a small town hick and probably an accident waiting to happen down there.

This stadium is everything they had promised and more. Took over 150 photograph while there.

At least FSN re-aired EVERY day game during that Boston series. I tried to not listen or find out the scores and watch the games but I couldn't resist flipping on ESPN and catching the bottom line. Oh well I STILL watched the games on TV! I think if an afternoon game is on FSN it will re-air around 7pm for all of us who work day shifts!

The day home games at the beginning of the season were planned that way strictly because of average weather. With average temps in April being in the mid-50's, it’s a lot more bearable to play during the day and in the sunshine then at night with the lows being in the 30's/low 40's. Now we've had an above average April so a lot of people haven’t really put two and two together and instead complain that they couldn’t see the games. Look at the schedule as the season progresses; there are fewer weekday day home games for the balance of the year, to the tune of one to two a month.

Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner. This is exactly why there are so many day games scheduled for early in the season.
