Other than Tonka, what lakes can you catch Small Mouth in the metro?

St croix and Mississippi is the only place I fished smallies until I moved north.

Ham Lake used to have some nice smallies in it. I know they are still there you just don't see any more 5lbs fish like you did a few years ago.

As mentioned Miss, St.Croix, Rum, an MN river. White Bear lake also has a small mouth population. However, rivers with out question are were you will find quantity and quality

I'd go with the mississippi upstream of coon rapids dam. They are good sized and the hardest fighting smallies in the state! But the croix is a good choice too.

Unless I am borrowing your boat, I would be stupid to put my boat in Mille Lacs.

You would be surprised how many fish a guy can find in the bays. Pick a bay with an access and explore. No big boat required!

Agreed. Plenty of smallies in any small bay like Isle, Wahkon, Cove...

pleasant in north oaks hahaha...too bad its private. I also heard vadnais has some smallies in it but you can only fish off of shore there.
