I've had the same problem. Try to set up on a gobbling bird in the morning as close as possible and call VERY softly and sparingly. Also try a different call you haven't used yet.

I used a shock gobble call after having a bird ignore me in the morning, when I was sure he couldn't hear me in the evening. He started my way shortly after that. I used it a few times in the 45 minutes it took me to come my way, but I pretty much did yelps once I knew he could hear them.

I ran into the same problem during my hunt. I wound up killing my bird by going silent and scratching leaves... very minimal calling with no decoys. Late-season can be tricky if they've had some pressure. Keep at it.

well, with 3 hours to go and after spending 37 hours in the woods i finally got my bird, I have a bunch of pics i took, but becasue its walleye opener, it will be next week, My stats were 19lbs, 10 3/4" beard,

spures were 1 1/8" each. big bird and bigger rush!!! i thought it was kinda on the lighter side although its still big. Man(watching them two toms run and there beards swaying in the grass, man what a rush.) my question is i took the first one that i had a chance, but two gobblers ran towards me and the 2nd was really gray, there beards were about the same size, but the 1st one came to investage my ground blind, but i am wondering which one is the domminate? is it the one that investages or the one that sits back and watches,

I don't know the answer to that one. But nice bird anyway. All that time in the woods is always good times. It makes the reward better anyway.

Awesome job and congrats on the bird! Think winter was tough on them, hearing of lots of 2 year old birds that were in the mid-upper teens in weight.

Still waiting for my bro to email the pics of mine so I can get it registered.

On a side note some guys I know put in a pot for the heaviest bird each year. Thus far out of 29 only 7 birds are in. Crazy weather and again a tough winter I think.

A first for me...........no gobbler to plug into the teams total. I reckon it may be a pay back for thr comment bout heading to the land of the 5 bearded monster! Saw plenty of birds and surely worked plenty. Right now I'm planning to be slightly more selfish bout whacking a mature bird next spring.......talk is always cheap!

Congrats to those that smoked one.

Time to start chasing spring chinook and smallmouth.
