I'd like to see them get to the championship game and have a rematch with Miami (Who they beat in December in an excellent game). I think the Michigan game will also be tough with them playing well. Bemidji can beat them but I could see it going either way! Tough bracket to get placed in, but not taking care of business in the CHA tourney hurt them. Now both CHA teams get in same bracket!

Yeah, but the Sioux get in the bracket with BC...and for some reason, BC has has UND's number for the past few years.

Wisconsin should come out of their regional to the Frozen Four; Denver will beat RIT, but will have trouble with the Cornell/UNH winner. However, I'll take Denver to rebound and get to the Frozen Four. I would love to take UND to have three WCHA teams in the Frozen Four, but Boston College just has their number...I'll pick BC out of their regional.

Michigan is my tournament dark horse. They were on the outside looking in, until they won 6 straight and won the CCHA tournament. Only Denver and Miami-Ohio have more wins (27) than Michigan (25), along with RIT (26) which had a weak schedule. Michigan has as many wins as North Dakota, BC, and Wisconsin...all #1 or #2 seeds. I'll take Michigan to beat Bemidji State and then upset Miami-Ohio to go to the Frozen Four.

And I'll put BC and Wisconsin in the Championship Game...

They only have UND's number until they don't anymore. The past isn't necessarily a good predictor for the future in team sports. Well, except when it comes to Vikings and Super Bowls. gringringrin

Go Sioux!

This suks for me. Our cable provider doesn't have ESPN 360. Man do I hate midcontinent. I might have to try to get this through the internet one way or another. I remember back during the world jrs I was able to watch all the games on the web because my cable didn't have it.

Steve I got your email I'll give the paper a call next week, thanks again. Go Sioux.

I think Wisconsin might be the team. They looked darn good. I dont have faith in the Sioux, though they I would like to see them over Yale and BC or whatever junk eastern team they have to play at home. I dont see the Beavers sneaking up on anyone this year. Personally I think pretty much all the Eastern teams are junk, Cornell, Vermont, Yale, New Hampshire, RIT. Why are New Hampshire and Vermont even in the Tournament over Ferris state and UMD.

Heres my frozen 4? 17-13, get out of here.

Denver

Miami

Wisconsin

BC, maybe UND

Wisconsin takes it all.

No upsets yet. We will see how they all look after one. Will Denver have the 3rd place hangover still?

ESPN 360 isnt a channel its just what ESPN uses online to stream games not on TV. Not sure what it costs but I'm hoping you can get a 24 hour pass. I am also thinking that perhaps ESPNU will cover ALL the games BUT will be on tape delay so you might be watching your favorite team in the early hours of the morning! Bemidji is in the same boat so I might have to stay up late or figure this 360 thing out!

EDIT... I just went to ESPN360 and all I had to do was install the player they have and it started playing just fine. It never asked me for any info so MAYBE it can be watched for free.... I do have Mediacom as my net provider which powers ESPN 360 so maybe it is just because I have that? Its worth a shot if your itching to watch your favorite teams first round game!

Thanks for the heads up on ESPN 360. I'm been getting a couple of different channels for the UND game.Other listed that game as ESPN syndication. I don't know if thats tape delay or what.

Justin TV was the site I used for world jrs and that was off the NHL network I beleive.

Brooks, Yes I have seen all the teams play, Between the NHL network and the 20 Fox sports channels, and a crying baby that has me watching TV at 1 am. IT is so hard to tell when they are playing against each other though. It is a diferent borring style of hockey out there. I think Cornell took down the Sioux early in the Year, before the Sioux had anything going.

Seriously How did Vermont and New Hampshire get into the tourny?

OK so I have looked further, Here is what New Hampshire (17-13-7) did to get a 3rd seed.

They never won a game they played against top 10 teams. Looks like the only ranked team they beat was Vermont, who is a 4th seed, and went 2-2-2 head to head.

They were 1-2 against maine who didnt make it. THey lost 4-1 and 6-1 to Wisconsin.

How does this team get a 3rd seed, and how do they get into the tournament?

UMD was 22-17-1

They beat Denver, UND, CC, WIsc, and lost to Vermont.

I certainly looks like UMD got shafted but going 6-10 down the stretch didn't help them much. I think a couple more wins would have had them on the other side of that PWR mess that included New Hampshire, Michigan, Alaska, Vermont, Ferris, Michigan State, and UMD.

If you look at the KRACH rankings, which I think is the best ranking system, it has UMD ranked 7th. Kind crazy that the PWR had them at 17th, something doesn't seem right.

A couple more wins would have been good for them. But still New Hampshires record is worse. And they beat no good teams. I just dont see how their power-ranking is good at all. Beating good teams get you a better power ranking correct?

So how can a team that only beat Vermont have a good power ranking. They tied and lost to Miami, and tied and lost to BC. Is that really enough to get you that high up. Maybe they just make up the power rankings too.

Did anyone else notice this?

MDW Region, 2 CHA teams and 2 CCHA teams

West region, 2 WCHA teams

There is no regional where 2 Hockey east teams play or where 2 ECAC play.

Granted there are 4 CCHA and 4 WHCA teams. But there are only 2 CHA teams and they are together.

2008 was more of the same.

No east teams together.

MW region had 3 WCHA

and there were 2 CCHA matchups

Not sure what your point here is......nobody makes up the Power Rankings. the only thing they mess with a little is where teams will be playing based on distance traveled and attendance factors.

Anyway there's is always going to be frustration particularly with the lower seeded teams on the bubble. I can understand the questioning of Vermont and frankly I see 3 teams that didn't make it who were playing better at the end the season then Duluth was so I don't feel all that bad for them.

Just to clarify Vermont is the 14th seed in the Tourney out of 16 teams.

My point or question is, how did New Hampshire get such a high power ranking? Vermont at least had a few decent wins this year. I dont care about UMD, I knew they would be the first to not make it.

I just think it is a joke that they want the east to have a presence all the time. Does any one out there watch hockey, it cant boost rattings that much. Maybe the WCHA will have to give up even more old rivalry and conference games to play these teams. Maybe we should add 2 weeks to the season.
