Bigmouth Buffalo on a fly!

The fist buffalo I've ever caught and the second is a cousin with an even bigger one. I believe they're buffalo not for sure,can any one can clarify?

both those fatboys are bigmouth buffalos

most people don't know this but they are actually native species to North America

they are also supposed to be good eating but they have those goofy Y-bones like a pike

I've caught them on yellow twister tails below dams

looks like you guys caught them at a lake- what did they bite on?

Thanks for the info! Wasn't actually fishing for them, we were fishing for crappies with a small jig head and tube, but what do ya know they got to it first.

If you are talking about CMJs fish, it isn't a Shiner. It is a Northern Cisco (Tullibee). Pretty sweet catch from shallow open water!

Ahhh woops. I forget to see if im on the latest page some times.

Thought it looked a little goofy for a shiner but figured it was a species I wasn't familiar with. Cool catch out of shallow water for sure.

couple more from the past week. been doing quite well on bowfin this year. and every single one i have been pushing limits with light tackle. ul rod and 4lb test. so much fun sight fishing!

coaxed this fat girl in with canned corn on a #2 bait hook

equaled my PB with a 34" measurement- have caught several at that size, can't seem to get beyond it

she is still swimming in Lake Calhoun- has a spot on the left hand top of her head if you ever happen to meet her

Visited my parented in WI. Was casting out a purple and red streamer for whitebass and caught this guy.

These boys helped me net the buffalo.

Baby gars are a lot of fun in an aquarium. You just have to find the right size minnows for them. When I was a kid I would keep them for the summer and let them go in the fall. Everyone enjoyed feeding time!
