A Doe and a Buck

Recommended Posts

Yesterday was "family day" in Canada, our newest national holiday. I call it Daytona 500 hangover recovery day myself. Anyways,I went for a drive yesterday to an area that is over populated with Deer. As usual, I got some decent shots considering that you can often get very close to them because of their interaction with people. People feed them and such. On a good day you can hand feed the younger ones. They are wild Deer by the way. I posted these photos in an Ontario fishing forum that I belong to, and the folks from Southern Ontario (Toronto area) were quite surprised to see that the antlers were still on these animals. I've never really taken notice of when they shed. How about the Minnesota Deer. Have they shed their antlers? Does it vary from northern to southern Minnesota? Just curious.

Really nice shots Brooky! That first shot seems like someone is laughing at you! In Minnesota deer usually shed their antlers from December to March. Depends on a lot of things for timing but normally they are here one day...gone the next!
