ryanmitchell
I am looking to purchase a couple of these spinnerbaits. Saw a few models at the Milwaukee show. Which models do you have the most success with, and colors? Single, tandem, big 3 oz model? I was thinking og getting a couple of the singles, The white with nickel and maybe black orange. I also want to get one of the bigger models for the fall, black/nickel and get a couple different spare blades to swap out for certain conditions. I really like the Just add water spinnerbaits, but those are harder to find.
Esox_Magnum
Rad Dogs are great baits, need a couple of each IMO. Cast or trolled you can't argue they catch fish.
AWH
Rad Dogs are my favorite spinnerbaits. I prefer the heavy single blades, myself. The single blades will be better for going through weeds. I had Mike make up a few with willows rather than his standard blades for those that prefer a willow.http://www.Muskie-Tackler.com/acatalog/Spinnerbaits_-_Musky_Mayhem_to_Trost_Lures.htmlAaron
eyehead
My favorite opening day bait right there.....have had some real good luck with that spinnerbait.
cbrooks
I like black silver, black orange, white nickel, and brown brass. There also my favorite spinnerbait. This bait is the best for going through bullrushes. Haven't found another bait that can do that nearly as well.
50inchpig
I got my first figure 8 fish on a Rad Dog. The 3oz model with a single #10 really thumps and the single blade fluted is a classic for a good reason - no better guy ever made a musky bait than Mike Ruff!!!!! john skarie
Rad Dogs have been a staple bait for me for 12 years now. They are built great, priced great and flat out catch fish.As mentioned, best bull-rush bait out there. My best colors have been Black/Orange with flame blade. White with nickel blade, Brown/Yellow with brass blade and Firetiger. Those 4 in different weights will work anywhere, get extra blades to achieve different depths and speeds. I like singes for casting and doubles for trolling.Mike is the nicest guy to ever make a bait too!JS
10,000 Casts
Quote: As mentioned, best bull-rush bait out there. I respecfully dissagree... Boogermans! I also like the Purple skirt, black head and shiney gold blades Rad Dog. Orange/Black and Nickel Black are my other 2 favorites.
HorseshoeChain
I have a love/hate relationship with Boogerman's. I've caught a lot of fish on them but I've missed A LOT of fish on them! Sometimes the fish want all that racket-then you use the boogerman. Sometimes they don't need as much noise -then use a RadDog. They do have a better hooking percentage. I like the light ones for reed fishing, all other situations I use the heavy ones. And yeah, I'll give another testament to Mike being as good a guy as you'll find. Tim_Anderson
I love Rad Dogs!I spent a small fortune on them last year, right Aaron? Many of my clients wanted some of their own by the time we were through. The model with the single number 10 blade really thumps. Fish like the vibration and really like to eat it!We've also done well with a variety of models working bulrushes, dense weeds, and even short line speed trolling. If you're a spinnerbait guy, these should be a staple. AWH
You definitely like your Rad Dogs, Tim. You wiped me out on your hot color more than once too!Aaron
john skarie
Rad Dog is the best "spinnerbait" you can get for rushes.Boogermen is a buzz bait I think?? I haven't tried the Boogermen to compare it to the new Buzz Dog which is a rad dog style buzz-bait.The Buzz Dog is a winner to though!JS
cjac
As versatile yet underfished as a bait can be.....and not a significant hit to the wallet. Top, middle and bottom of the water column, a great bait to use.
10,000 Casts
Another thing about the Rad Dogs is that we have caught some really nice bass on them. They have a nice mix of rubber and feathers which helps casting them.
ryanmitchell
Glad to hear they are such a popular spinner bait. Aaron i had an order queued up a couple weeks ago and will again. Just need to decide which Rad Dog combos to get, along with some spare Phantom tails, and maybe another Phantom. Just got a Perch colored, orange tailed 7.5 incher at the Milwaukee show. I think I need one more Phantom as well, maybe the 6" walter color.I have so many lures already Tim, but might as well buy a few more! We are going to the Chippewa Flowage for the opener, any suggested colors? We went to Vermilion last Labor Day and might try and get to LOTW in the summer as well. Anty colors shine better than others on those lakes? So I might get three so far. Single willow, 3 oz. and regular little single fluted.
brad coin
Best deal at the Minnesota Muskie expo!!!there already one of the cheapest best value baits in musky fishing but Mike always has a show booth where he has show deals too,,great time to get a certain color combo made. Scoot
Aaron, do you have any of the heavier Rad Dogs with willow blades available? BTW, by "heavy" I mean the old "heavy" (I think they're 2 1/4 oz), not the new biggest size that has the #10 blade with it.If I can get the heavier ones with a willow blade, I'll put in an order today! guideman
Just a little FYI for all you Rad dog fans. Glittertail now makes a flashaboo spinnerbait mounted on a rad dog frame. You get the same solid rad dog frame and design with that hot Glittertail skirt."Ace"
AWH
Scoot,The only ones with the willow that I have are the lighter size. I wanted to see how they went over before I had him make both sizes. But I can certainly have some made for you. I just don't have them right now. Thanks,Aaron
Scoot
I can talk to Mike too, but since I'm going to order some stuff from you anyway, that'd be great. I'd like a couple of them- one dark with flame blade (if the willows come in flame, if not I'll take yellow or orange) and another one that has very cool colors (you pick) with a metalic colored blade. Let me know when you've got 'em around and I'll put in an order. Thanks much,
Tim_Anderson
I seem to do pretty well in the stained water with gold blades. The bait color doesn't seem to matter as much as I have caught them on brown, black, orange, chartreuse, and even purple. The purple/gold and black/gold combo was good for us up north last year, so maybe give that a try.

Brett Waldera
You could make a living on LOTW with a black/orange Raddog with the flame blade. I will not cross the border without 2 of this color on hand. Before the big blade craze... Raddogs were the top big fish bait of many of the fishermen I know...little secret...they still are too. Mike is truely a great guy. Brett Waldera
ryanmitchell
Glad I posted. I passed over the black/orange with the flame blade. Thatis a good looking one for sure. Just gotta decide which size to buy. I might have to get a gold blade as well, as most of the ones we have nickel/orange or chart blades.
