Rad Dogs

I am looking to purchase a couple of these spinnerbaits. Saw a few models at the Milwaukee show. Which models do you have the most success with, and colors? Single, tandem, big 3 oz model? I was thinking og getting a couple of the singles, The white with nickel and maybe black orange. I also want to get one of the bigger models for the fall, black/nickel and get a couple different spare blades to swap out for certain conditions.

I really like the Just add water spinnerbaits, but those are harder to find.

Rad Dogs are my favorite spinnerbaits. I prefer the heavy single blades, myself. The single blades will be better for going through weeds. I had Mike make up a few with willows rather than his standard blades for those that prefer a willow.

I like black silver, black orange, white nickel, and brown brass. There also my favorite spinnerbait. This bait is the best for going through bullrushes. Haven't found another bait that can do that nearly as well.

Rad Dogs have been a staple bait for me for 12 years now.

They are built great, priced great and flat out catch fish.

As mentioned, best bull-rush bait out there.

My best colors have been Black/Orange with flame blade.

White with nickel blade, Brown/Yellow with brass blade and Firetiger.

Those 4 in different weights will work anywhere, get extra blades to achieve different depths and speeds. I like singes for casting and doubles for trolling.

Mike is the nicest guy to ever make a bait too!

I have a love/hate relationship with Boogerman's. I've caught a lot of fish on them but I've missed A LOT of fish on them! Sometimes the fish want all that racket-then you use the boogerman. Sometimes they don't need as much noise -then use a RadDog. They do have a better hooking percentage. I like the light ones for reed fishing, all other situations I use the heavy ones.

And yeah, I'll give another testament to Mike being as good a guy as you'll find.

I love Rad Dogs!

I spent a small fortune on them last year, right Aaron? Many of my clients wanted some of their own by the time we were through.

The model with the single number 10 blade really thumps. Fish like the vibration and really like to eat it!

We've also done well with a variety of models working bulrushes, dense weeds, and even short line speed trolling.

If you're a spinnerbait guy, these should be a staple.

Glad to hear they are such a popular spinner bait. Aaron i had an order queued up a couple weeks ago and will again. Just need to decide which Rad Dog combos to get, along with some spare Phantom tails, and maybe another Phantom. Just got a Perch colored, orange tailed 7.5 incher at the Milwaukee show. I think I need one more Phantom as well, maybe the 6" walter color.

I have so many lures already Tim, but might as well buy a few more! We are going to the Chippewa Flowage for the opener, any suggested colors? We went to Vermilion last Labor Day and might try and get to LOTW in the summer as well. Anty colors shine better than others on those lakes?

So I might get three so far. Single willow, 3 oz. and regular little single fluted.

Aaron, do you have any of the heavier Rad Dogs with willow blades available? BTW, by "heavy" I mean the old "heavy" (I think they're 2 1/4 oz), not the new biggest size that has the #10 blade with it.

If I can get the heavier ones with a willow blade, I'll put in an order today!

Scoot,

The only ones with the willow that I have are the lighter size. I wanted to see how they went over before I had him make both sizes. But I can certainly have some made for you. I just don't have them right now.

Thanks,

Aaron

I can talk to Mike too, but since I'm going to order some stuff from you anyway, that'd be great. I'd like a couple of them- one dark with flame blade (if the willows come in flame, if not I'll take yellow or orange) and another one that has very cool colors (you pick) with a metalic colored blade. Let me know when you've got 'em around and I'll put in an order.

Thanks much,

I seem to do pretty well in the stained water with gold blades. The bait color doesn't seem to matter as much as I have caught them on brown, black, orange, chartreuse, and even purple. The purple/gold and black/gold combo was good for us up north last year, so maybe give that a try.

You could make a living on LOTW with a black/orange Raddog with the flame blade. I will not cross the border without 2 of this color on hand.

Before the big blade craze... Raddogs were the top big fish bait of many of the fishermen I know...little secret...they still are too. smile

Mike is truely a great guy.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
