Bass Cat

To Deitz in particular but not exclusively, I saw one of the nicest looking bass boats on another site last night. It was a Puma FTD in an apricot, white and gunmetal scheme. It had the new Yammie SHO on it and was mezmerizing. A lot of good being said about these new Bass Cats and this comes from a true Triton guy.

After riding in several bass boats as a passenger, when I win the lottery, it will be nothing but a Bass Cat for me. Awesome boats. I have always been partial to the white/gunmetal color scheme with just about any accent color. Just love the way that looks.

Yes Deitz thats the one. Absolutely dig the color scheme and the boat as well. I'm sure you have read the specs on the Bass Cat and the SHO. It was mentioned that originally they had the 250 on the back of the Cat and when the numbers came up the Cat was faster than the Skeeter FX so Yamaha put a 225 on the Cat to make it appear that the FX was faster. Kind of transparent huh?

I had heard those rumors too.. I am not a huge speed freeak. (funny coming from a guy who has a 250XS on the back..).. But hull for hull, I dont see how a skeeter could be faster. .Allison, yes.. .Blazer, yes.. But not a Skeeter. Now I am not saying that Skeeters are not a great boat.. they totally are.. same with Ranger.. Great boat.. just not thought of as the "Fast" ones.

I watched an Allison get blown out of the water by a Liberator last year on Tonka. They had to be going well over a hundred on an early tuesday morning and nobody got stopped. Just insane-especially on a lake with a speed limit.

I can't see that being a very widespread trend - some tournaments, sure. Without support from boat and motor companies, there would be far less money in bass tournaments (though some of that money is starting to dry up). Those boat and motor companies probably (though I could be wrong) clear more money on the 21 footers and the 250 h.p.ers than any other models.

I would love to see 150's on the back of everything like it was back in the '80s and very early '90s. But, once B.A.S.S. dropped their 150 limit, 200's were flying out the showroom doors.

But what are we looking at 1% of the Bass fisherman? Having money and knowing how to fish are two different things. Just because I get there first doesn't mean I know how to fish. It just means I have deep pockets. Nothing more. I think a lot of fisherman are tired of seeing there sport becoming nothing more then a place for people to show off the boat they can afford.

The only time I'm impressed is when your are at the weight table.

But cant you work your tail off from the time your 12, trade boats ever few years, buy smart, make them better, treat them better than your wife, and get the boat of your dreams?

I do, but only to a point take offence to this. I have had a job since I was in middle school. I told my mother then, that I was going to have a sweet boat. That summer I bought a belly tube.. it worked.. from there, bought a colman craw dad/trolling motor/ from there a 12 foot.. ect.. I am now on boat # I dont eve remember..

My point is.. please dont judge someone by their boat.. Just because they have a nice boat, does not mean they are a good angler, a boat does not make the angler.. But just because they have a nice boat does not mean they are rich, or a jerk, or a good fisherman.. It just means, that they made that a priority in their life.

I have a nice boat.. I love my boat.. I spend a ton of time in my boat.. I love every second in it. I dont have a ton of money.

just a thought..
