rickl1968
I know this maybe a dumb question ... but on the Mag 2000 it is listed in the owners manual to run 40 to 1 but on the auger it say on the sticker 25 to 1. What should I do?
Eelpout08
I would run it at 40:1, 25:1 is way too much oil.
rickl1968
I thought so, I bought some low smoke oil and premium gas last night for it but thought I would run it past you guys on here.I see some guys on here use 80 to 1 but that must be on the newer augers only, am I wrong? MidCoast
I just bought a StrikeMaster Lazer Pro and I bought the StrikeMaster oil mix. I think it comes 40:1 already.
fishnowworknever
I have a Mag 2000 and run 80:1 in it with the Amsoil Sabre pro oil.
Craigums
80:1 Amsoil Sabre Pro, then never look back
hamms-scooter
80:1 Amsoil Sabre Pro, then never look back ditto!! Don't try to run 80:1 or 100:1 with anything else but this!
firedew
I also have a Mag 2000 and switched to Amsoil 100:1, running great now.
Brad B
the 25 to 1 was the old mixture they recommended but now they have went to the 40 to 1 mixture with no issues. I have a 20+ yr old magIII that had the 25 to 1 sticker on it. last year when I had it tuned up at strikemaster they told me to go to the 40 to 1 mixture. Wally fisher
Usually when it is brand new you are suppose to run it 25:1 for the first tank. Helps get the new motor nice and lubricated. Then just switch to the 40:
harvey lee
I have a new Solo Lazer and it states to run 40-1 with premium gas. No E-85.I do use the Amsoil Sabre but a 40-1 mix.
justinlkgb
For what its worth, I bought and Auger used from a guy online in my town. He swore up and down he used Amsoil religously...Brought the auger in last week because it was running poor. well come to find out the prior owner did something, or perhaps I did...the only common thing we both did was use amsoil. I used the 100:1 with some seafoam. My engine guy dumped it out and we examined the cylinder= scratched and toasted...New Solo though:)Moral...use the suggested oil. I would follow the manual @ 40:1 and wouldn't bother with amsoil. Just me. Good luck.Just a hard lesson I learned, thought I would share. bdafisher
I am a 40:1 guy on an old Mag2000, but I am sure they run great on a 80 or 100:1. I just stay on the safe side.
harvey lee
StrikeMasters warranty does cover using Amsoil at the 40-1 mixture. At 100-1, yes you could have cylinder issues.Too bad about the auger though.
Eelpout08
Especially if you are running sea-foam i would stick with 40:1. sea-foam has alcohol in it im pretty sure and two-strokes dont like alcohol so you need to have enough oil to properly lube the guts of the motor
jwhjr
I put an ounce of Seafoam into my gallon of mixed gas each time I fill up. I mix at about 75:1 with Saber Professional and have had no issues with any of my 2 stroke small engines for going on 6 years now.
hamms-scooter
I use sabre pro at 80:1 now with non-oxygenated premium gas. No seafoam! The biggest diff is the gas being non-oxygenayed! ...on page one of this thread is the 1 and only time i have heard of any issues with this oil but sounds like it wasn't the oil being the problem... Northlander
I have used Amsoil Sabre for about 15 years or so in all my 2 stroke motors. Never had a issue running it at between 90:1 to 100:1. I broke my Nils in at 60:1 or so and after the 1st gallon went to 90:1 or so. Best thing I ever did to my augers.I had a old Jiffy Legend 3 horse 10" cut. It was a pig and was always dripping oil out the exhaust and smoked like a chimney.I dumped the old Jiffy oil out and went to Amsoil and that baby never ran so good. No smoke, no oil dripping and it cut better than new.Im a firm believer in the Sabre.

Started to blow a black poily junk out of the exhaust, switched to 50:1 did not help. Past two years been running Amzoil Sabre, auger starts easiler and runs better. harvey lee
Running the mixture at 80 or 100-1 is fine in a Nils but not a new Solo.
trapperdirk
With a zeal like most I too run amsoil sabre in all my gear, old or new from day one, because I have that much faith in it and for all different brands of rigging . .If you can't run such a simple mix so that it covers all similar two stroke motors SOLO included .. Then I ask the manufacturers of these motors to answer " WHY NOT " . It's being done as there is ownerws of jiffys, strikemasters ,nils and stihl's etc making the same claim . Simply put "the gear performs better" and seems to last on Amsoil sabre pro or opti 2 even for a mix at high ratios .This is the very first time for me to hear of a prob where it is claimed amsoil ever scored a piston or anything else .TD
justinlkgb
Should be worth noting...Before doing this I had my auger in for service and figured all my problems were due to fuel....It was not an authorized service dealer. I probably was the one that screwed it up, It was non-oxy fuel, I bought 1.8 gallons, and added 2 packets of the sabre for a 100:1 mix. I assumed that by using a little less fuel I could beef up that ratio... my un-doing was adding the seafoam, as another poster may have mentioned. Had I been aware of it I would not have used it. Needless to say I will stick with the fuel I'm using till at leat the end of the year. last year I used the sabre oil just fine in an older SM Maglll around a 70:1. Amsoil is great stuff if used properly, just learned a hard lesson. I will try to get a pic of that cylinder in the next few days.Good luck. trapperdirk
So is it the oil .gas or seafoam mixture your cussing as the problem . Follow directions bud on all bottles .Sorry to hear you had issues Im interested in updatesTD
hamms-scooter
seafoam is my guess
justinlkgb
I feel the problem was the premix packets. I never had an issue when I mixed it myself. These packets from the bait shop said to mix w/ 1 gallon of gas. so I had 2 packets for 2 gallons. I'll probably switch next year, but have to use the gas up.
