Nils.....slight problem....

dudewheresmyboat

Question

I've own the Nils for about 2months now. Its been great, she fires right up every time but now I have a slight problem. I've punched quite a few holes in this two month period.

When I start to drill the hole the blade goes blade/shaft goes left/right and doesn't catch with out downward pressure. Once the the hole is started I will have to put pressure down on the auger. The problem just started today. I assume its either the blades are dull or possibly a bent shaft. I hope its the blade that needs to be resharpen. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

I guarantee you that it's a dull blade.

As soon as I notice that I have to start putting downward pressure to get it to bite, I know it's time.

If there is ANY negative that I can say about the Nils, it’s that the blades DO get nicked, dull, bent, etc. I guess it’s the price to pay to have the lightest, fastest, most dependable auger out there. I just make sure I have a sharp spare handy and also have Surface Tension put a trusted edge on them for me. He’ll make sure to give it the new edge a test run before sending it back to you.
