buck shot spoon

Easily some of my favorite lures. I just wish they were a little cheaper, but for Walleyes (larger sizes) and Crappies (smaller sizes) these things are super effective. I like the large area of glow and the rattle adds that little bit of noise that helps draw them in.

I really like the Gold ones and they also make a red/pink/white one that works well with crappies. I like the fast fall rate and I usually have one rod rigged with one. Unless the fish are finicky and want a more finesse presentation, these are usually a nice option!

I love buckshot spoons, and realized (accidentally) that it has been my most used lure this season so far, in sizes up to 3/4oz. even when I am using small jigs and plastic, I still pound the bottom with a buckshot to bring fish in if I am not marking anything. I usually have a minnow head on

buckshots are one of my favorite ice fishing presentations. i really like the northland buckshots in the glow perch color and i really like the lindy rattlin flyer spoon, in the glow red as well. sometimes that rattle that buckshots produce is enough to trigger a strike on finicky fish

The buckshot with a bobber rod next to it is a deadly combo. The buchshot will attract the fish and if it is a light bite, they will hit the bobber rig. I put a swivel about one foot above the spoon which is nice to avoid line twist. The glow on the colors is awsome and add a dropper and you have one heck of a jig! I use it about 75% of the time when I am fishing. Try different sizes and color until you find the right one! Good luck and Thanks Northland! grin

lindy rattlin flyers were like right over $4 at the big C store last weekend. but you can buy 6 packs for like $20. i think they are cheaper at FF

i bought the 6 pack and i use every single one of the 6 colors frequently. my favorite is definitely the glow red.

The rattlin flyers are about the same price and better in shallow water IMO. Haven't used them much over 20' deep. I read a long time ago that wide glide baits aren't as effective deeper because they have a wider swing and fish miss them. As I'm typing this I'm realizing darter baits have been my #1 producer this year at all depths. Better bust out some flyers tomorrow night.lol

definitely tip the rattlin flyer (or buckshots) with a small minnow head for me. i fished with a group of guides on mille lacs for 2 days earlier this winter and they kept stressing to me the importance of using SMALL minnow heads when tipping buckshots and spoons. they suggested using a crappie minnow head, and not a chub or shiner. you just want to get a small scent added to the buckshot...

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
