Milfoil and Augers???

If you fish a lake with milfoil, is it possible for it to cling to an auger?

I suppose.. but you should be able to see the weed on your auger..

Be careful. It might grab the auger and pull you down with it!

And even if you don't notice it, the freezing temperatures will most likely kill it within a few minutes of being out of the water. Plants don't really like being frozen solid.

Yeah I heard the milfoil plant from minnesota is extremely carniverous and may eat you and your auger whole . I think it maybe even related to the octopus family but my marine biology is not what it used to be .

what if pieces get hung up under the blades?

it should die just like in the summer they say it will not live on your boat over a week if not in the water.......but my guess is that it goes dormant in the winter and that it is not suseptible to clinging to things such as a auger or transducer where in the summer when it is in bloom and clings to everything

I drilled a hole in a shallow spot of ML last year and milfoil bits and whatnot came up all over the place and stuck all over the auger.

It was already dead or dying and like others have mentioned sub-zero temps are not good on plants.

Either way, I picked it all off. Better stay safe than spread it around.
