mainbutter
I use a tackle bag. I don't always bring it with me, more often than not it's my travel bag I can keep a wide variety of tackle with, and then when I get to my destination I pick and choose a few smaller containers within the bag to bring with me.When I'm out in places like Ontario and a little further away from civilization, I always keep my tackle bag with me because the extra space gives plenty of room for emergency equipment should an unlikely but unfortunate scenario to occur. yaggie
I would like to throw my fishing buddy's tackle box overboard. It takes half the width of my 17ft boat every time he goes into it. If I had three people in the boat with boxes like that there would be no room for a cooler. I can just pull one tray out at a time to get what I need. andrew chadwick
Wow, that has to be the longest sentence I have ever read. you know periods make things much easier to understand.tackle bag all the way. You just need to invest in a good one with a good waterproof bottom.
JohnMickish
Wow, that has to be the longest sentence I have ever read. you know periods make things much easier to understand. Was thinking the same thing! But anyways, I haven't used a tackle box in years. I have about 30 plano style trays and just grab the ones that I need for the lake/species I'm going to. If I am in someone elses boat I put them in a small duffle with the things I need for the day. I will add that if your getting that much water in the boat that your trays fill up, I think I'd be more worried about the water than keeping my trays dry. ozzie
A few years ago I went and decided that I would buy a couple different tackle trays and now I store them in a back pack that I use for all my fishing winter or summer......I can just grab a tackle tray that I want plus all the plastics that I use I keep in the pouches of the back pack and I can bring with things such as rain gear in my buddies boat or other things like extra line..... coombia21
I use a rubbermaid rough tote its not too big, but when i am tight on space i use a flambeau tackle bag, the thing i like about the tote is that i can put a couple pops and things i might need but dont always bring, we dont bring a cooler unless we will be on the lake for a very long time so everyone has to find a place to store their own pop and food this is why the extra space of the tote come in handy
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I switched to a tackle bag a few years ago and have not looked back. That does bring up a good point about waterproof bags - which ones are waterproof? I alway just hide mine from the rain under the steering console, or through a rain jacket over it.
jigginjim
I paid $70 for a tourney tackle bag, it held 8 / 9x13x2" plano boxes, 2 / 8x10x2" plus 2 6x14" pouches. The water proofing was gone in 2 years. I had water in most of the plano trays, the jigs and other tackle seemed to get rolled around alot. I finally went back to a tray style, that held 4 trays the none used boxes are not in storage areas in the boat. I like the fact that I can have a small group of jigs at hand quickly, as well as a few lindy sinkers and floats. I did see the other box made with several boxes stacked together. norma
I've used the Flambeau box for years now, It holds four removeable boxes in the lower section, in the top, I have a spinner bait box, 5 smaler boxes for hooks, weights, ect.. there is still room for spare spools, forceps, a few packages of plastics and other misc. stuff. to top it off on the outside of the cover, there is room for two more small boxes. Ease of use like a tackle bag, but water and hook proof like a hard box with plenty of storage I think the model was 8010 or such. Had it since 2000 and still works best for me.
