Splake
Has anyone ever tried it?
Chef
Herring or Northern Pike if you're going to make the effort. I've never heard of another type of whitefish being used.If you give it a shot, let us know how it turns out!
Bigsmitty
When I was a kid my dad would take us to Millacs and we would pound the Tullibees at late ice. He would take them home and smoke half and pickle half. They were awesome. They tasted exactly like pickled herring from the store. Wish I had the recipe. kingfish689
I use to work with a guy that would bring pickled fish to work all the time and it was great but it was always something like sheephead or catfish, carp and yes tullibees,it was almost always a rough fish and always different. but pickled fish is pickled fish they all taste about the same it is just some fish does not hold up as well when you pickle them but they were all good

otterman91105
Walleye is such a good fish that it would seem like a shame to pickle it.
Gordie
Walleye is such a good fish that it would seem like a shame to pickle it. fowldreams
After a recent trip to LOTW and being checked by the CO he was the one that mentioned pickling them. I was a little skeptical but they turned out fantastic. I used a recipe similar to Gordies and finished the jars off with thai chili peppers. It was just enough kick. I just want to catch more now.
