pushbutton Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 probably has something to do with spawning in the northern part of the state. there is often some talk about letting the southern half go a little earlier. considering the lack of snow and cold temps, might be a good thing this year. Black_Bay Posted January 5, 2010 Share Posted January 5, 2010 From the Mn State Statutes:97C.395 OPEN SEASONS FOR ANGLING.Subdivision 1.Dates for certain species.(a) The open seasons to take fish by angling are as follows:(1) for walleye, sauger, northern pike, muskellunge, largemouth bass, and smallmouth bass, the Saturday two weeks prior to the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to the last Sunday in February;(8) The commissioner shall close the season in areas of the state where fish are spawning and closing the season will protect the resource.
