0 Ed Carlson
I had a hip replaced two years ago and I don't do ice. What is the best thing to get to strap onto my shoes for more traction? What type of shoes or boots? Different cleats do a better job on different shoe designs. In general, for most day to day and street shoes and the average cold weather boot, the YakTrax are ideal and easy to use. I recommend the YakTrax Pro's, as they also offer a crossover Velcro strap to keep the cleats in place. They do well in wet snow and ice combination conditions and work like tire chains. A key point with the YakTrax Pro is they do not cover the existing shoe or boot treed design completely as many others do, so the boot or shoe can also offer it's designed traction benefits in cooperation with the Yaks treed. They also clean out well and do not ice up and become useless.
0 Big Tom
I use Stabillicers. They are quality made and work very well. I echo your comments ST. I have had mine for 10 years and they still look new. I just had to replace the sheet metal screws every couple years. I have a lot of miles on them.So many of the other products have rubber straps which doesn't work very well in sub-zero conditions. Another case of getting what you pay for. 0 Surface Tension
I've used the rubber slip on models. Get back to the truck only to find one of them fell off. Haha. The Stabillicers have a vibrum sole just like your top of the line hiking boots. You won't feel the indents of the cleats on feet.

0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Bought the Yak-Traks because they are more passive for all around use. Didn't want spikes because I drive with them on. A little slick on concrete however.
0 Bassinbob84
I have yaktrax and they are versitile but slide front to back. The springs are all the same direction. there was a company that starts with a k (I can't remember the name) at the ice show. He was dancing on ice blocks. They are my next cleats I just can't remember the name for the life of me.
