Which rattle reels are the best?

I have a new house and was wondering which rattle reels are the best ones to put in?

I would get the "Rattle Wheel" wood kind with the bells in them. They are a lot easier to hear than the plastic type with the little rattles in them. Just buy some hinges for them and bolt em right to the wall.

+1 for the rattle wheel or a similar type of wood one. Im not a fan of the plastic ones for the reason listed above and because ive had a few of them crack from the wing nuts getting too tight.

Yep the wooden ones are the best imo. Alot louder than the lindells or plastic ones. That and the price is better on the wooden ones versus the plastic.

Why dont you make your own?? I here there not that hard and it is cheaper.

I have made them before, not that difficult, just materials and time. A slower time of year would be good for projects, too much fishin to be in the shop now. And another vote for wood type ones. The red plastic ones have a self tightnening nut, which really sucks, and they are not bobber friendly either(too small).

These are some homemade ones I made. They are easy to make once you figure it out. My bro and I made about 30 of them this year. It took us about 3 hours to make them all, and cost around $40 for all the materials. If you can get your hands on a 4" hole saw you're set!

lindell's are really nice but my ears are trained to the bells of the rattle wheels. tink tink and i'm wide awake and pulling line.

I think the ones I'm thinking of are called Bitzen's. Really nice and inexpensive wood rattle reels.

Lewandowski are the best I have used. Large spools glow in the dark spin easy and can me moved hole to hole or removed very easily. The wood ones in my opinion have to much resistance i have seen far too many fish drop the bait as soon as they feel the resistance. Check out rattlereels dot com for info on the Lewandowski's.

I've had the best luck with the wood "Rattle Wheel" ones too. Easier to set the tension with the wing nut than with the rubber grommets. It's great to wake up to the sound of those bells jingling.

I've got a couple wood ones from FF. They have a clamp on them so I can move to different holes or take with me up to URL or LOTW Etc.

I bought a couple of the Lewandowski's, very disapointing, not loud enough!!! The little tinkle, tinkle, tinkle might be fine if you're sitting there playing cribbage but they'll never wake me up at night!!!

Blackjack, I got the glow in the dark plastic kind that they have where you bought your wheelhouse, I believe. I added three or four split shot and now I hear them!!!

I prefer the wooden ones also, but I have a variety of wood an plastic reels. It's hard to tell wich one is going down if they are all the same.
