i picked one up at the outdoor sporting goods shop off of highway 36, it's kind of neat but i find that on some lures it is fantastic and on others it doesn't seam to "charge" them up very well. i've only used it once so far, so this is definitely not a definitive review just my thoughts after one trial.

I have used them before and they work ok.

The best thing I have found to charge jigs is a UV Led light. I got mine at a auto parts store. By far the best out of anything I have ever used. Its immediate and you can really tell the difference between that and a regular led.

I use a small blacklight LED light, like deadeye. The blacklight charges the beejezus out of those things. I bought mine online at that big auction site for under 5 bucks. Most auto parts stores probably carry them, they are used for spotting dye to detect leaks.

I would think the pop-it does alright. I have used a cheap hot shoe camera flash from on old camera and it does a good job. Just blast it once, flip it over, and blast it again. You can pick up an old camera flash for a ton cheaper than that pop-it rig, but it probably isn't as durable.

Exactly. I got mine at oreilly but it should be at any parts store. I ended up getting it with a UV dye kit and kinda found out by accident that it does a fantastic job. Nothing that I have seen honostly even comes close to what that thing does. Like he said they are available at some of auction sites have them too.

I've had the experience that you can sometimes overcharge a glow lure. With an aggressive bite, they seem to like it bright. But when the bite is neutral, just a little bit of glow works better. Thats why I like to use a small, one bulb LED that takes a while to charge lures. You can vary the amount of charge depending on the water clarity and fish preference. I also think that glow lures can wear out if exposed to continuous sunlight, so I like to store mine in opaque jig boxes. I might be wrong, but it can't hurt.

The best thing about a capacitive charged and discharge flash system is it gets the max charge in one POP..done.

This allows the angler to get back fishing quicker and also offers them protection by just closing there eyes for a second to keep from blowing there night vision away tinkering long term with a less intense and efficient light.

The old school cheap camera flash units worked well but the flash's were not well built for cold weather and they failed frequently, low life expectancy.

I have yet to try the new POP-IT, but it was way overdue to be made with modern components in a Flashlight package, and it is a smart configuration for the job in my opinion.

I picked up a headlamp visor thing at Holiday gas station that has two settings; normal LED lights and UV LED lights. I've found the UV lights are excellent for charging up glo-jigs.

It also works really well on rods that have the glow-wrap at the tips, so you can keep the shelter dark and still keep an eye on your rod tips.

I do find I need to not try and stare at the jig as I'm charging up the glow -- the reflection and intensity of the UV light is enough to kill off my adjusted night vision for a few moments. It's pretty bright.
