What Angers Me about the Twins

Rich Harden just signed for 7.5 million for the rangers with a team option of 11 for the second year.

The Twins did not even contact his agent. People figured he would get around 12-15 per year.

Harden has bad injury history, but has some of the most electric stuff in baseball.

What gets me is Pavano will get almost that much and Harden is flat out nastier. I like Pavano, but his injury history is just as bad if not worse. Harden would have ended up costing us a similar amount but has legit ace stuff when healthy.

an organization will give 4 mill a year for punto but wont pony up twice that for a guy that can pitch. ugh.

/end rant.

Too risky and overrated to be honest. I'm not a Pavano fan nor do I expect him to even be close to a 500 pitcher for us... 7-13 for him.

I';m pretty sure Punto earned his salary last year.. unless you missed the play-off drive and phenomenal Playoffs he had.

harden is only guaranteed a year, the team option is for the second. they can let him go after 1.

I know what he ended up with, but he was asking for more.

He is a risky player - -He is really good, when he plays. Not a big surprise - -the Twins promised us they would be more agressive and would be able to go after better FAs but did they? Nope.

We bought it hook line and sinker. Wish they would go get somebody to fix this 3b issue ... But theyt won't. Are we really supposed to be excited about DeRTossa?

we could be KC royals fans, maybe even worse Cleveland, imagine if we were watching Mauer catching for NY and Morneau playing first for Philly last October confused

That's probably the only way we would ever see those 2 in the world series.

Geez. Why doesn't everyone who is whining because the Twins haven't signed any free agents (a) go ahead & turn into a Yanks or Red Sox fan or (B) pull their heads out of the ground. Twins? Sign free agents? May as well wish for open water in two weeks on Red Lake, that's just as likely to happen!

I know the hot stove is fun, but the genuine angst every single bloody winter over the lack of signings is just dumb. That's not the Twins way & is never going to be. Accept it.

You mean when he effectively lost Game 3 by running thru a stop sign at 3B and got thrown out in little league fashion trying to scramble back?

Punto is a utility infielder, at best. But Gardy loves the guy so we're stuck with him full-time somewhere. If we signed a good 2B and 3B this offseason, Gardy would make room for Punto at 1B by moving Morneau to DH and Kubel to the bench.
