LMITOUT
As usual you miss the point. No, I'm not missing the point at all. If an individual can build a stadium in LA, then why can't Wilf?

LMITOUT
Big Dave, That Summary of Economic Impacts doesn't even include the $121 million dollars in salary that the players make Salary some guys are paid to run around for a few hours on a Sunday: $121 MillionThe franchise owner's net worth: $1 Billion?Getting the taxpayers to pay for a stadium?Priceless. randyfaas
delta said open the books. I inferred that they are already somewhat known. The impact of being 2nd to last in revenues may be great if they end the salary cap next year. The Packers went from 20th in revenues before renovating Lambeau to 10th+ after. If the cap ends, the Packers would be in a much better position to compete in that potential new (and worse IMHO)NFL than the Vikings. My thought is that this is something the Vikings (and their fans)may want to consider.BTW, I am in favor of a new stadium. Don't be so defensive. I know, it seems wierd, but you have Packers fans who live in MN as supporters on this issue. After a re-read, I think I misunderstood you, lol. randyfaas
It does kinda seem like the public support is not there. 24 people at the rally?(sad) Even economically depressed Detroit MI built a stadium with public funds (Public paid for 49% of costs, Lions paid for 51%).It seems smart to me to keep them here, but the public support also seems to be lacking - even with the Vikings doing as well as they are this year. But of course we back in the same scenario of the owner looking for a buck and not looking for the best intrest of the franchise. If one looks back at the history of the franchise this has been the case. Looks like Part ownership is the way to go.
Canon Guy
I can't imagine Ziggy is all that excited about having his team in L.A.. There are a number of reasons why they still don't have a team. Los Angeles is not a pro football town.I don't think we should be buying the Vikings a stadium, but if we are going to consider it the teams contribution has to be much larger than what they've mentioned in the past. Big Dave2
I hate to burst your bubble but a profesional sports franchise is a business like any other and the best interest of any business is to make a buck.

zamboni
...neither are the Lakers and the North Stars... They didn't leave for lack of ticket sales, they left because the owners got a ton of money stuffed in their pockets to move. Kansas City Scouts, AKA, Colorado Rockies, AKA, New Jersey Devils left KC cause they didn't sell tickets. As did the now Sacramento Kings in the NBA. We were in a completely different boat. Kind of ironic speaking of the North Stars then hearing cleveland fighting for a team. Little known fact is owners of Cleveland Browns owned the North Stars at one time. And I think they still were involved and the the original destination was California but Normy had a bit of say in that.It was a while back and my memory fails but the Ironicy still exist. james_walleye
Zygi is playing on that exact fear to clean out the pockets of Minnesotan's.....and it's working. Call his bluff. I bet you'll take the pot. I don't want to gamble on the MN vikings. If your read is wrong than we lose a sports franchise. There isnt a next hand with a chance to recoop your losses. This state needs to get something done. Lets be realistic for a change about how most every new sports stadium is built. Its not by individuals. james_walleye
What do you want me to send? If sending a check guarantees the vikings stay and one of my sources of entertainment is guaranteed to stay in MN im sending a check.
DTro
The simple hard fact truth is that the there are some major benefits to having an NFL franchise in MN. Both financially and socially. If there isn't one here, then we are more than likely finding a way to get one here (been there done that with the NHL).So because of that, the state should no doubt contribute towards a stadium. How much? That is the big question.Maybe it's time we start to legalize some things and collect the taxes on the sale? This has to be done fairly though. If both sides draw a line in the sand, nothing will get accomplished.
LMITOUT
The simple hard fact is that having a local sports team is nothing more than a luxury. The city and the state will survive without the Vikings. Period. You people need to realize there is more to life than football and the state is staring at a $5 Billion deficit in a recession, no less. Hardly a time to be ponying up more money when the revenue is trailing the expenses. Although the Dome is not pretty it still works and there is no reason why it can't continue to work while Zygi puts pennies into his stadium piggy bank for a new one and the state tries to get it's budget back on track. The other option is:Garden Commercial PropertiesAttn: Zygi Wilf820 Morris TurnpikeShort Hills, NJ 07078%New StadiumSend in whatever you can contribute. After all, YOU'RE the one that wants a new stadium. So how bad do you want it? I'm expecting to hear back tomorrow from those who sent in their donations. DHanson
This is the first time that I can honestly say I agree with LMIT on anything. It's a scare tactic that will in the end result in more money for the so-called "poor."
DTro
Well I guess a person has to ask themselves the question. "Is the state better off with a team?"Luxury or not, I think MN is a better place with an NFL team. My life won't change one bit if they were to leave, but you can darn well be sure that the state will continue to find a way to tax my money. Might as well have it for something I enjoy.Selfish?Yeah probablyBut, you know what is great about this country? I can be FOR some for things and AGAINST others. I don't have to "check in" with my political party to see how I feel.
chasineyes
Wow!!! do we have a lot of digust for the rich. How many here are working for a poor homeless man?? I like rich people, because of them I have a job, health beneifits, vacation, which allow me to spend money. Don't forget the rich own companies like Medtronic, 3M, Ford, GM, Boeing etc.,etc.,etc., ALL of which get public subsidiies at any given moment.Scare tactics...you mean the same as NO BUSSING unless we pass a referendum, or higher class sizes unless we pass a referendum, or NO polic force unless we pass a tax increase, or NO snowplowing unless we raise taxes, or or or or. EVERYONE uses scare tactics NOT JUST THE RICH!
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 6, 2009 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 6, 2009 One could also argue that keeping the Vikings is not a luxury. Especially for those whose job depends or even partially depends on them being here. We're talking 100s of millions removed from our state economy and the taxes on that removed if lmit and croixflats have their way with us. In the end if they stay, at the very least they pay for themselves and more, using the way being proposed to finance the stadium. LMIT WANTS OUR VIKINGS GONE and the POSITIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT they create GONE! His heart and rhetoric lie with his packers which is fine. Just be aware his opinion and rhetoric is influenced by those facts. I admit I am a Vikings fan and my voice is influenced by that. You will be hard pressed to get LMIT to admit to anything other than he likes to say no no no......the sky is falling if we build a stadium and the Vikings being here is a luxury. He keeps saying send a check even though he knows full well that won't get the job done. He's being silly with his proposed method and we all know it. Let's get a Stadium deal done, paid for by those who benefit and racinos It's win-win for Minnesotans and Vikigs fans that way.
