lost one on the pond yesterday as well. heading out again now. most years i get pushed back to the cities by turkey day so i am loving the warmer temps!

I've chased one big girl aroud WBL 3 days in the last week but only landed one average fish. I gotta go out and give her one more try before shutting it down. I'm going to put extra Tryptophan in the turkey tomorrow so I can get out if the weather is decent. Good luck to everyone and be safe.

Was out yesterday for a few hours on a local lake. Boated a nice 45" within an hour of getting started. Later caught a nice pike around 39" that looked like it swallowed a softball.

Weirdest thing was there were a group of young loons that followed my boat around. I then started to notice boatside they were chasing my lures under water. Eventually they tried to eat the lures. Luckily no one got hooked but I'm sure its tough to get a musky strike when the loons wouldn't leave my lures alone!

what speeds for blades this time of year? big cold swing came in today I'm wondering if i'm going to need to really slow it down. Haven't been out for more than a month so I don't know what the fish attitude is like as of right now. Really pumped to get out tomorrow though. And the next day. and the next day. and probably the next day as well.

I was out the 16th, 21st, and yesterday of this month and have done fairly well each outing. I've fished mostly dawgs and fairly slow but that's because the bait fish I've marked on each lake have topped out at 15' deep. So I count down the lure and work it slower just to get deep enough. My boat partners have tried all kinds of lures, including blades, and even thrown dawgs but have had zero action. I watch them fishing faster and higher than I am so I'm sure that's the difference.

I guess in short I usually find the deeper weeds to stay green longer and the bait fish and muskies are using them; so I don't feel comfortable unless my lure is getting down in that 10' mark to start off. Count your blades down and slow roll them would be my advice.

thanks for the advice, I'm going to be on the water enough in the next few days to kind of mix things up here and there, but it's nice to get someone elses input first so I'm not wasting as much time scratching my head. I've never had much (any) luck after september 1st, but I suppose that's because my time on the water is limited when I have to get back to college. Hopefully with this stretch of a few days out I'll be able to dial them in and at least see a fish or two. That's really all I need.

one little guy tonight. rough and windy! had to spend my time trolling as casting was just not safe. fish came on a inside line while turning. bait was barely moving if at all. deep water off reef - 10 jake...

Got a fat forty inch tuesday night trolling. Same way we have been getting them trolling 1.1 to 1.9 mph with depth raiders.

I stuck a chubbby 42" right at dark tonight on a Suzy. All in all a Pretty nice day on the water.

Sure would be nice to stick a couple more before the 1st!

I have been skunked all year....not a real avid musky fisherman, started 2-3 years back with no luck so far. Granted I only fish French and Fox. Both lakes are stained and generally don't produce like the metro lakes. Any suggestion for my last day out tomorrow?

Guys from my chapter did well on Fox this year 2-3 well over 50 and many smaller ones. I personaly havent fished it yet, not sure why not since it's only 30 minutes away. I know the chapter 54 guys did quite well on there to. I prefer my ultra clear water over dark water anyday. My year wasnt a great one either hundreds of hours logged for 6 fish and nothing big while my partner had a banner year 40 in the net 5 over 50, go figure.

Officially closed the season here today for myself with one last run this morning. 30 minutes into the day I moved the first fish....she rocketed in from the side and left as fast as she came in. 20 minutes later I had just started the 8 and WHAM! She crushed my orange/black Naze bait from the side (my first hook up on those baits btw) she came from under the boat and must have T boned that bait - and of course I shat myself when it happened boatside so I know I didn't get a hook set in her....she did a few lunges and turned and went back under the boat and........then it happened....my first lost fish of the year. AAAAGH!!!! Fished 3 more hours and nothing.....but it sure was cool being the only boat on the lake again. I think I'm planning a trip to IA after ice out so I don't have to wait till June. Hmmmm....should I call in sick tomorrow morning and really give it ONE last go at it???

Us Iowans have 2-3 tourneys in already by the MN opener. My local lakes are closed till May 21 but have rods will travel. Soon as we set the 2010 IMT schedual I'll post it.

Well after a nice run at the end boating more fish then usual, the boat got winterized yesterday. Tough to see it go but it helps when you bring the portable out of the attic afterwards and start gearing up for hard water

This weekend was very sad, I put the boat away for the winter. Now it's time to start working on lures.

I'm done as well finally. Ended the season well with what I'm pretty sure is my PB at about midnight on Thanksgiving. I waited for all the extra triptophan to kick in and once they all went to sleep I went fishin and it paid off. I guess there is only about 187 days until it starts up again. I hope you all had a good holiday.

I just couldn't call it a season so I hit Little Winnie today with another guy. Never fished the lake before but that is part of the fun. It was nice to boat a super fat 41" and a 38" chunk along with a mid-30" pike. All the fish fell for a DDD being twitched. Unfortunately my boat partner was playing net-man again but I'm sure next year he will turn things around. I was getting spoiled with all these multiple fish days that I really hate to see the season end but its done.

Anyone else having trouble adjusting to looking at panfish jigs and ice rods after tossing pounders with 9'XH rod all fall!?!?

It ain't over yet? The season ended Dec. 1st, not when the lakes are ice covered, check your regulations.

I can save you some smarta$$ery WB and tell you there are still some legal waters to be fished. Redig is alot of things but poacher isn't one of them
