mnguy152
Why is it today everyone is complaining about trespassers? I mean don't get me wrong but why is it such a problem. Think about it people it is a deer. Do you really need the meat that bad to break the law for a deer? Or is it a personal pride issue that you need to shooot a deer every year or a buck. To me deer hunting is about the company in camp the old memories of hunts years ago and the deer and peoplethat have passed. And if you do need the meat that bad think about how much more beef or pork you can buy with out going hunting.I mean I love deer meat as much as the next guy but I won't break the law or let any one in my party to do it. Just need to vent on this, thank you.
brittman
Nothing and I mean nothing brings out worse sportsmen and the worst in marginal sportsmen as deer. Tresspassing, shooting off hours, tagging animals that are not yours, fights and threats ... I believe that overall the number of issues on a percentage basis is very small, but if you are caught in the middle of any such confrontation this small percentage just became irrelevant. Chef
My Deer has been the freezer since Sept. 25th All of this Gun hunting malarky is so not worth the stress I'm reading about on here. Can you imagine how much of this is happening that we're not reading about on here? How about a mental health exam to qualify for a Deer tag? LOL!! jeffreyd
i wonder how many are poachers too? taking game in off seasons, shooting from roads and anything that moves? how many are folks that dont have a tag? I came up on a guy who shot a hereford cow standing on the side of the road. he was spotlighting saw a deer (cow) and shot it. I turned him into the sheriff and the farmer put charges on him. I just happen to come down the road about the time he was going to get it. some people are idiots, far too many to count.
Shoot2Kill
Nothing and I mean nothing brings out worse sportsmen and the worst in marginal sportsmen as deer. Exactly. Some people really just do not care because sadly enough they know for the most part they are going to get away with it 9 times out of 10 until someone with the kohonas to stand up to them finally pins them until the CO shows up. brittman
Probably should not even use the word sporstman. If I used the word(s) that best describe them I would be blocked from posting on this site until I had a little chat with the moderators. RK
Hiya - I think it's gotten worse in recent years. Until maybe 5 years ago, we never had trouble with people coming onto our property, or with road hunters driving into our fields to hunt (or just shooting out the truck window). I think it's a sign of changing times. We used to know everyone that hunted around us because we were neighbors. Now on almost all sides of our 600 acres it's all non-resident land owners (not non-resident as in out of state, but rather they just own the land and don't live there) that let friends hunt their land - you go from people you have to live with and see all the time to people two removes from any kind of investment in a relationship to the property or the area. The end result is the kind of stuff I described in another thread. Sad thing is, if these guys had just asked if they could sit in the woods on a corner of our property, or come introduced themselves when they started hunting the next piece over, we probably would have let them, and not cared if they walked one of our woodlots in the middle of the afternoon. Now, next time they do it, I'm calling the cops on them. Sad deal.
delcecchi
My bet is he knew it was a cow and shot it anyway. Better eating and more of it. But saying he thought it was a deer turns it from rustling or felony theft to a misdemeanor game law violation.
mnguy152
Also hopefully none of these people( I will use that word lightly) Are teaching their kids or grandkids this is how you hunt. Like that other post I read the guy excuse was when drove this for 30 years. So what if it been 30 years it is post and prvt property. Also is the people that are posting state land like it is theirs also. They are nobetter than the guy trespassing .
mudslinger64
this is why i don't hunt with a gun anymore,to many guys that just don't care about anything other than getting some shooting in.i have seen some crazy stuff over the years hunting in wisconsin and minnesota.i will hunt with my bow from now on,way less drama and the deer are not spooked. harvey lee
I do believe that one should have to prove where they are going to hunt and show they have permission or no license. That would cure many of the issues.I know this won't be very popular with many.
