Lunker
Just curious what, if any duck species you would or have already put on the wall. I have not had any done but am seriously considering a redhead I shot this morning.
ac777
I have a drake wood duck in my freezer. It's the first Drake I've shot, I havent duck hunted too much, more this year than any. But it's a beautiful bird, and great color so I think it would look good on the wall.

dan z
any bird that has sentimental value biggest flock, special buddies, cold temps, rare bird, there are tons of reasons to mount a bird just not the appearance. although that is a plus. cutter08
Got a buff on the wall and just shot a bull can this morning that's going on the wall. Don't know how much longer we will be able to soot them that's why I'm putting it up there
catmaster1557
Heres a wood duck I have on the wall, shot 2 years ago 3rd week in november. I shoot quite a few ringnecks and have always wanted to get one mounted, just haven't done it yet. If I ever shoot a nice can or pintail they would go on the wall to. morefishplease
I say whatever you want. I have not mounted anything but in hind sight kind of wished I have. I have shot cans, buffies, redheads, ringos and bluebills that all could have been mounted but I passed. I even seen nice bull cans get mounted in the oven!! This year I was hoping to get something for the wall. But yes it is a personal preference, so if it looks good to you I say mount it, if not....mount it in the oven!! Moonie
I have a nice Bufflehead on the wall... mounted with an old buff my uncle shot many years ago. There are some fun stories and memories with both birds which helped me pull the trigger on the mount. Love to get a goldeneye on the wall and a dead mount of a couple birds for something different. Possibly a widgeon and pinnie next time i'm in ND?? Has anyone done a dead mount? curious to see how they set it up and what species. WaveWacker
I was lucky enough to get a full plumage widgeon in ND years ago that only got nipped by a couple of BB's in the head and the dog was out on another retrieve so I hand retrieved it myself. Also have a "Greenie" and a Wood duck already.Others on the list.- group of 3 nice male ringnecks- Can- Redhead- Drake Pintail

benbosh
got a decent looking drake mallard thursday night of MEA week. going on the wall for 2 reasons, first because its for my class and 2nd because i broke off 4 from a flock of about 15 that were about 300 ft in the air to back peddling over the decoys 3 minutes later. only used my regular duck call to get their attention then all the rest was the drake whistle and jerk string. never had em come in and lock up so good like that and everything came together perfectly so it was cool to me
jeepguy
Here is a Drake Mallard I shot second to the last day of the season a few years back on Pelican Lake (St. Michael)
BoxMN
I have two goldeneye above my fireplace. I think they are cool ducks, and so far anybody who isn't a duck hunter has no idea what they are Makes for good conversation. Mine are not quite fully mature, so the white on the wings isn't the best, but they still look good. The main issue I see in mine, is that the taxidermists who did these (one was a sort of beginner, and one was a shop that has been around a loooong time and should be expert) must not know a ton about goldeneyes. I feel the necks are stretched too long, like a mallard would be, but these ducks are flying when it is really cold out, and their necks should not be as stretched out as they are. Most would not notice it, but if you know the ducks you do. Oh well, they still look okay... Also, one of these was shot on last day of season on Waconia, and one was shot on Bald Eagle, where the local yuppies have successfully closed down hunting... Being a diver fan, I have always wanted a perfect bull can, perfect bluebill, perfect ringer, and a perfect redhead.
