AWH
Swimbait, I agree completely. I just find it funny when people look at the play calling from the previous 3 years and lay it all on T-Jack yet ignore the fact that it was no different with any of the other QBs during that time.Aaron
Jim Uran
Don't be ridiculous!!!! That's SOOO funny, why do you think the play calling has changed this year??? LOL!!! HA HA HA!!!!It's because someone is riding the pine, plain and simple. He couldn't manage this playbook PERIOD.....
AWH
Brad Johnson, Kelly Holcomb, Gus Frerotte, Brooks Bollinger. Who am I forgetting? It seems like there was someone else in the mix. I just find it funny when people look at the play calling from the previous 3 years and lay it all on T-Jack yet ignore the fact that it was no different with any of the other QBs during that time. And I agree, the play calling is different because of FAVRE. So thanks for making my point. You guys really make it too easy.Aaron

AWH
Leechbait, where are you confused? Are you confused by the names Brad Johnson, Kelly Holcomb, Gus Frerotte, Brooks Bollinger? Those are all QBs that have been starters under Childress. T-Jack hasn't been under center for all of that ultra conservative play calling. Does that make more sense?Aaron

PC's
No they could never contend with playoff teams, we seen that today. Farve is an awsoeme QB but as soon as we start trailing in the playoffs he will throw some sloppy picks out of desperation. We just cant contend with good teams. The only two teams we played well againts were the lions and the rams. Cleavland held us down considerablly, We barley squeaked by the niners, and almost blew it againts the ravens

Are you molding your own jigheads with no ventilation? You're blaming Tjacks under par play last year on bad ultra conservative play calling. It's pretty simple really, not confusing at all. AWH
You aren't confused, yet you say that the post made no sense. Which is it? Leechbait, let's follow along. We're talking about the play calling here, not T-Jack's play on the field. If you're on the same page as the comments you're responding to, you're saying that the play calling under Childress the first three years is because of T-Jack. Yet QBs NOT named Jackson started 29 of those 48 games. So are you really blaming Jackson for the play calling in the games he didn't start?Aaron

The protection broke down behind him and his arm was hit for the fumble. Then he hits Taylor in the hands, who deflects it up in the air and into Fox's waiting arms. How's that sloppy on Favre's part? I assume you consider Pit to be a playoff team. What part of the game did we not contend?

Aaron So now you want to talk about play calling and not Tjack? Wow, now I am confused. I'm blaming Brett Favre for being able minded enough to handle a not so conservative play book. The past is the past, those guys were bums, Favre's a Qb, end of confusion.

we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted October 26, 2009 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted October 26, 2009 At the one foot line 1st and goal, you use AP all day to pound the ball straight up the gut three plays in a row. That was a time to be predictable.
DTro
Actually it was 4 plays. They got a freebie on a penalty.
pegleg
Totally agree on that one... Bang Peterson 4 times with Tahi or Kleinsasser in front of him. Why pass to Kleinsasser in that situation and then doink one off the cross bar to Rice? Also, why not have Peterson in there instead of Taylor on 1st and goal from the 10 yard line with a minute left in the game? That didn't make any sense either. fishin58
Because everyone of you whined last week when we ran the ball, Chili wanted to please all of you and have the HOF'er throw it a couple times.
pegleg
The HOF Favre will go into the Hall in a wheel chair if they continue to throw 51 passes a game and only run 23 times.
AWH
So now you want to talk about play calling and not Tjack? I'm simply saying that's what WAS being talked about when you jumped in and turned it into T-Jack's play on the field. And I agree with you that none of those guys are or were anything close to what Favre is. The point was that people like to conveniently ignore those other guys when talking about the play calling of the past. And as you said, the past is the past. Luckily we've turned a new leaf.Aaron
AWH
Also, why not have Peterson in there instead of Taylor on 1st and goal from the 10 yard line with a minute left in the game? That didn't make any sense either. In hindsite, that would have been great. But guys going all out like AP can't play every play. Sometimes they need a quick breather so they can run through another defender like he did late in the game (the very play before this, if I'm not mistaken). Chester is no slouch and not a bad guy to have in the game. The guy didn't make a catch. Favre threw the ball a little high. It happens. Time to move on and beat the Pack.Aaron
Swimbait2009
I don't think it's convenient that those guys get ignored. The play calling was criticized then too. None of the QBs you mentioned were capable, at the time, of doing what Favre can still do. TJ was definitely an upgrade athletically and with his skill set than what we had, but kudos to Chili for upgrading again! He has been steadily upgrading the entire team, which was not immediately apparent two years ago. I think you can look at both sides of the ball and see better play overall. We were a VERY dominant defense last year, but they had no choice with the anemic offense we were running out there. I thought the 'D' played pretty admirably yesterday, especially considering Winfield wasn't out there. Paymah's play was MUCH improved, and it was clear that the film they had for him to watch was spot on and he received it well. I'm not sure if the coaches are as confident in the talent yet as they should be though. Teams with the talent we have are able to make plays even when the defense knows what's coming. I think Chili feels he needs to get too cute sometimes in the middle of a good drive, when an AP run up the gut is going to turn those 3rd and 8/9s into 3rd and 2/3s. That's my opinion of where Chili needs to improve now. I was a real "Chili-hater" last year and coming into this year, but he's winning me over with the overall performance of the team and the overall talent level. It's not his fault Winfield got hurt and it looks like we may be better off than we looked last Monday after how the secondary played yesterday. That's coaching, bottom line.
