Dark Cloud
The announcer even stated they took a touchdown away. A pretty good game to watch and its to bad the refs had that bad of a call to probably decide who wins. When I start listening to the anouncers.... I want to be put out to pasture, lol The games played on the field and the refs are part of the field. They never single handedly determin a game... PierBridge
Pier is nothing but a troll. Always in another fantasy world on his own. I just watched the replay. The original Live angle shows Dugan on the ground and it clearly LOOKS like he lifted his leg and tripped the rusher. I wouldn't call that an obvious missed call particularly being the referee has to make a split second call as it happens live. Go look at the replay and I do believe most will realize originally it looked like he was clearly tripped from that perspective.I do agree the the slow motion after the fact replay from behind play does lend some credence to it being a questionable call. And dugan may have barley hit his thigh although thats questionable and the leg coming up may not have been what tripped him up.No troll at all just an honest open-minded opinion on how I saw it.And I also disagree it cost us the game with 9 minutes left it certainly didn't help but IMO it didn't cost us the game we still had a shot..Great game and just what needed to show us where we are at where we need to go to be a contender. Swimbait2009
One of my friends put it this way. We needed a bit of luck to win against SF, and a LOT of luck to win last week. This game was a well played game that either team could have won at any point in the game, and there wasn't enough luck left in the pot to overcome the late turnovers. If Chester Taylor actually catches the ball that hits him in the hands, we're driving!
Scott M
Didn't see a snap of the game today, but from what I heard during 1.5 hours listening to the radio during the car drive home, the Vikings outplayed the defending champs on their field, but Pittsburgh came away with the win. Does that sound right?
FISHINGURU
pier is definitely a troll and a MONSTER packer fan!hey we can't win them all...i'll be happy going into the bye 7-1...we could of won that game just as easy as we lost it.i say 1st and goal we punch it in if it takes 4 trys in a row with ap....EVERYTIME
ANYFISH2
here's a question. Why on second down with 1:00 left, well within field goal range to tie, do we even have a passing play called?Last week I questioned rushing on 3rd down instead of try for the first down with a safe pass. But today was different it was 2nd down we could have ran to take more time off and set up one more shot at the endzone or extend the game to overtime. Pass on second down at that time seemed ill advised. That is what cost us the game in regulation.

Does that sound right? Yes im a Pitt fan but am as unbiased a sport fan there is. I enjoy most all sports but could really care less in the long haul...To say they outplayed the defending champs is a stretch. Reading these threads its clear what went wrong for Minn. But Pitt had penalties, dropped balls, fumbles bad descisions, ect. Plus we were down 2 defensive starters. They were two solid teams out there who will do well this year and could beat anyone on any given sunday... zepman
Vikes clearly outplayed the Steelers...just wasn't our day to win. Credit the Steeler's D for taking advantage of the opportunities when they were there. Vikes/Steelers would be a great SuperBowl match-up. FISHINGURU
That's not the smart play. Pretty much every coach and commentator and expert says that on the road you take the points any time you can get them. Taking the short FG was frustrating after such a nice drive but there's no question it was the right thing to do at the time. And the Vikes were driving for the win or a tie when Taylor tipped the pass up for an interception .... so the short field goal is NOT what hurt the Vikes. think again....the smart play with 1st and goal is to run the ball 4 times in a row with the leagues best RB....not pass, run, pass, kick...you gonna tell me AP won't score from the 1 with 4 trys? You can have whatever opinion you want about the plays they ran on 1st, 2nd and 3rd downs. But you don't run a play on 4th down there. When it got to 4th down the right play, the smart play, the percentages play, was to kick the FG and take the 3 points. On the road you take the points. FISHINGURU
the point is if you run the ball 3 times in a row there won't be a 4th down cause we would score....i'd punch it in on 4th EVERYTIME in that situation though....playing the percentage or listening to commentators don't always win football games...sometimes you need to grow a pair. I agree that sometimes you have to grow a pair, but you're looking at that play from a perspective from the end of the game. Looking at the final result, yeah it would have been nice to have had 7 there instead of the FG, but at the time it looked like points were going to be few and far between. I don't like the three plays before the FG, but on 4th kick it. I agree with the run, run, run assessments. At the very worst, we would have put a bit of a pounding on some of those big fellas and AP may have found some more room later in the game. Gotta punish those guys up front to soften up the running lanes when you have the best back in the league. Look what Cincinnati is doing... FISHINGURU
run, run, run, everytime with the leagues best rb on the goaline...even give it to the FB one time if you want but we can get a td there.i think we are passing to much on the goaline this season personally...a play action to shanks or a quick slant is cool once in awhile but in a tight game you NEED the TD i say you pound it EVERYTIME.51 pass attempts from favre is way to many and not the game plan. Swimbait2009
Absolutely agree with you Guru. And we lost balance in the game long before we were in a large deficit. SkunkedAgain
If there is one thing that I've learned with recording sports, it's to set the DVR to record an extra 1/2 hour to hour (3 hours if it's NASCAR).My points to be made:1) Dugan dove to the right of Harrison and even extended his hands & elbow to the ground. You don't do that if you're throwing your body into a block. You do that if you're trying to get your legs up. He intentionally put his legs in the air and deserved a penalty, either tripping or leg whipping.2) Childress needs to find better balance. The Vikings should be a 60/40 team with the run dominating the ratio.3) The Steelers game was close. Nobody dominated anyone. The Steelers paved a way to the Super Bowl by winning exactly the way that they did against the Vikings. Not many boxers could claim that they dominated Ali after throwing more punches in his rope-a-dope strategy. Same thing here. It was a good game and could've gone either way.
