Scott M
Well, Chili is coming a long way from the 6-10 unimaginative play-calling of his first year...great personnel decisions through the years, excellent drafts, a good trade...the team is in the position and has a capable quarterback to do the things to create the offense that everyone claims Chili is such a mastermind of. I gotta give the guy credit...he looks like he knows what he's doing. I just hope he doesn't coach the team into the ground with his inexperience when it counts in the postseason, as it appears this team is destined for playoffs and maybe even a first week bye. OIF_Veteran_21B
The Saints are looking pretty good too. Their passing game could spell trouble for the Vikies.
Swimbait2009
Does anyone think the D gets gets too relaxed knowing that they have a big lead and Favre? I think this is happening all around. Coaches too. Our offense flattened out badly after going up by 14. Not sure if it was the play calling, or lack of fire from the players, or defensive adjustment. I'm guessing it's a combination of the three. It's on every one to correct this, but it would be naive to think that the coaches aren't responsible for all three at least indirectly. Juan Grande
Don't get me wrong because I'm thrilled they're 6-0, but that hand off to AP on 3rd and 9 in the red zone seemed like something they'd do with T-Jack under center. The defense was getting KILLED and they only saved about 13 seconds because of the two minute warning. I would have put my money on Favre and thrown in that situation. Great win though... Big Dave2
HOW BOUT JOE FLACO!? Think he's having a decent sophmore year? Flacco looked great but I thought the Raven's offensive line played excellent and was the key to Flacco's success!

Fantastic play calling in the second half also began to take advantage of our aggressive pass rush on the left. Ray Rice's untouched run to the end zone is a perfect example. Baltimore played a VERY good game after the first quarter. I'm glad we held on long enough to remain undefeated.
nofishfisherman
Did anyone else catch the announcers talking about Winfield leaving the game? I didn't hear anything about it. Apparently I missed the play where he got hurt and I never heard them talk about him being missed in the secondary. They might have but I was watching the game while doing other stuff around the house. The 2nd half might have been a little different if your best corner was still in the game. Losing him was huge today, thats why I was surprised not to hear the announcers talk about it at all.
Swimbait2009
Completely agree with you nofish.Early reports are calling it a turf toe injury. This can be a nagging injury, but usually something that RBs suffer from the most. Hopefully it doesn't slow Winfield down too much.
Born2Fish
Let's PRAY. I don't want to see Paymah in there. He looked lost over half the time he was out there.

Then I asked my self where is winfield?I think the anouncers were too busy boasting up Ray lewis and joe flacco...seemed like a little homer calls going on? zepman
Turf toe can be a very hard thing to heal during the season...he'll be fighting this all year long. It must be a pretty darn severe one too because as far as I know, he didn't even come back out of the locker room to stand on the sidelines for the 2nd half.Huge difference maker in the Viking's defense...hope he'll be ready to roll this coming weekend--but doubt it. Slowhand
I think/hope they give that A. Allen(3rd from Georgia) kid a shot @ corner before Paymen next week if Winfield can not go. The other players and coaches were touting this kid....where is he?
harvey lee
The Vikes should send a thank you card to the Baltimore kicker for giving us a cheap one. How many times can we continue to win giving up all the yards the Vikes do. A QB like Drew Blees would have a record day against our defense. If the Vikes think they are going to go anywhere, that defense should start to figure out how they are going to stop the pass for one.Way to go on our offense though as they seem to be clicking well together and can only continue to improve. Shack
I think we are 6-0! As far as that D, it was a group ef-fart that caused a large score gap to be filled quickly. They have to run drills for stuff like this during the week. Even if GA went down, the game goes on. As far as the pass verses the run on the last series the Vikes ran, what would any of you be saying right now if that pass had been picked off? Let's see? "We should have ran the ball up the middle! What kind of coachs do we have?" You know it and it would have been 5-1 Other thing is we had like 2 TO's left at 2 seconds left of the game. Passing to save/conserve time??? IMO (even though the crowd did not agree) that was some of the best lays run all day. West-textbook O-fence at it's best. I agree with DC31. Childness is really winning me over this year. Almost gave in to popular demand last year, but have always felt Chilly was a good coach to some degree.

Wadinator
Childress is good at all facets of his job, except for PLAY CALLING after we're up by two scores. Once that happens he slams his foot on the offensive brakes and plays not to lose, and someday that strategy is going to backfire on him (probably in the playoffs). harvey lee
Does Chili even call the plays? If so Wade, I agree. Once we play a few of the better teams, they will not only catch up but they will sail right by.
fishinphilth
I feel all of the play calling and offensive questions and rants should wait until the offence scores less than 27 points in a game. It isnt the offence or play calling, it is the defense that we should be worried about. Sitting on the heels and trying to prevent a score is not the way to play after the offense puts the team ahead. I cant stand the prevent defense, it never works for the Viks. Wadinator
I don't know whether or not Chilly calls the plays, but certainly its his offensive philosophy being executed on the field.
Juan Grande
Had the Vikes D. played well all game then I would have taken the field goal no question, but they gave up like 300 yards off offense in the 4th quarter alone. I'm not saying they should have thrown to the end zone, just something underneath (high percentage) to give them a shot at the first down. There would be more second guessing had the Balt. kicker not missed that field goal.
Swimbait2009
Our defense definitely took a kick in the shorts with the injuries that we came up with. I also agree on the prevent system. Can't expect to give up 4-5 yds per play for three quarters and hope to keep the other team from scoring points. Unfortunately when Baltimore finally struck, it took the wind out of the whole team. That pretty much lasted until the last drives (defense and offense). We looked like we had some passion back there, even though some may disagree with the last 3 downs. I still like our chances with the ball in AP's hands there. Equal chance of breaking a score and of managing the clock at that point, while limiting the risk of a turnover. Not a bad trifecta! zepman
Chilly has a big part in the game planning and also the first two drives are scripted(plays called in advance) but after that Bevell takes over most of the play calling as he has time to follow the game and to make adjustments to the defense. It's my understanding though, that Favre calls his own game and most plays are changed at the line of scrimmage...based on what the defense is showing him.
