North Metro Deer Hunting

Recommended Posts

Very good chance! I grew up in Lino Lakes, so am pretty familiar with the deer there. I've seen multiple MONSTER bucks in my parent's back yard. We have pictures of a 16 pointer that should've been on the cover of a magazine, maybe 4-6 years old, and a 2.5 year old mainframe 8 with a drop tine to make it 9...probably goes 145". We came back from a disappointing rifle opener one year to see a group of 6 bucks walk by our living room window, the biggest being a giant 12 pointer.

I'd jump at this opp'ty. Good luck.

So..........Are you just asking this question to rub it in or are you really not aware of how good the metro can be? smile I hunt the S.E. metro and all i can say is WOW!!! I have hunted many other places and the sheer numbers of deer in the metro surpass most other places i have hunted. Have at it. Don't think these city deer are stupid either. They are every bit as smart as there country cousins. In fact, sometimes i think they are even more sensitive to intrusions. Good Luck. Let us know hopw you do.

i get the annoying part. I got chosen 60 out of 500 to hunt near rosemount the Vermillion Higlands and everyone says there is a ton of deer there but out of all the people hunted i have talked to very few have seen deer during the day. I know there are alot because from one day to the next there are many more tracks and trails. I have had no luck so far out of 3 weeks out. I just want some meat in the freezer ha ha.

Yes, they can be very tough. We pretty much leave them alone until the rut kicks in. Seems you get far more daytime activity then and they seem to be distracted by the whole rut thing and pay less attention to there surroundings. This goes for both the does and the bucks. Early season and again in the late season it is straight up hard ot hunt them, The does especially. It is like they know every single tree in the woods. They pick a guy off more times than not it seems. There are some dandy's to be had though and it beats competeing with the gun season IMO.
