Mechanicals and shoot thru mesh

Despite Harvey's experience and Vister's call to Rage, I personally wouldn't trust expandables not to open through mesh. I usually only get a few cracks at a deer I want each year so I'm not willing to take chances. I tried the slits through a few of the mesh windows approach but didn't like the open feel of even a few inches wide. Therefore, I went back to just leaving a few complete mesh windows open and using my muzzys when in blind and rages when in treestand.

BTW, have you ever used a ground blind before? Not only will it be a fun experience with your daughter but it will be an advantage in my opinion to have two sets of eyese looking for the deer if they can be coming from two or more directions. I'd also recommend leaving as few windows as open to better conceal you inside the blind. I typically only leave two full shooting triangles open in my GroundMax and then a few slits or peepholes to rotate arount and peer out of. I learned the hard way early on how easy it is to get picked off in a ground blind with too many windows open.

Good luck!!!

I agree with leaving a couple of windows open. If the broadhead opens ( and I've had the rages do it ) it turns a good shot into a very long tracking job, or a missed shot. Why take the risk?

If I've done all the work to get that one great shot, I want it to be perfect. We owe it to the deer to make the kill as fast and as humane as possible.
