MuskyRookie
Just wondering if anyone plans on hunting for skis this weekend in the cold and snow. I plan on venturing out to Tonka or Indy but was wondering what this cold snap will do to the action. Any thoughts on fishing in deeper waters or shallow? jclund
I would say to get out as much as possible this time of year. There is only about 6 weeks of open water fishing left, depending on weather. I usually fish thru the second weekend of deer hunting, so cold weather does not bother me too much. I did very well on Tonka last Friday and will be out this Friday all day. I would fish both shallow and deep. Things change too much this time of year and conditions can change by the hour.
MuskieJunkie
I'll be out this weekend, I'll probalby do a lot of trolling deep structure/breaks but I'll be casting shallow too.
Musky Buck
This is prime time now, it's when a lot of muskie's become famous on video's. A year ago today I was fishing and watching a video crew following I won't say the name, but it's game on until ice up.
10,000 Casts
i will be out tomorrow. I'm planning on bundling up!!! We marked too many fish last weekend in a typical fall spot not to give it another shot. I hope it snows instead of rains!!!
MuskieJunkie
Agreed, I'll take 31 degrees and snowing over 33 and rainy any day.
nater
Snow for sure, much more comfortable. Hopefully the fish mean business tonight!
muskiechaser
Heading up north this weekend, can't wait for 33 degrees and windy Saturday. Just hope my fingers keep cranking that reel.
MUSKY18
We fished from 3-8 last night before getting blown off the lake. Managed to boat 2 fish and moved a couple of others. Chilly to say the least, but the two fish boat were CHUNKS!!One thing.....if you are going to the lake to fish, please have 4X4. Ramps are going to be ICY and SLICK and nothing worse than waiting for someone with a one wheel wonder trying to pull a boat up and ice covered ramp! MikeEiden
Bret makes a great point and with the little mist/rain we've had trying to lug your boat out of the water gets difficult. Throw a bag of salted-sand in the back of the truck also. Some landings have pretty good inclines to them.Nice work on the two fish also!
goblueM
sure, i'll get right on buying a truck with 4 wheel drive just so i dont inconvenience you... mind fronting me 10 grand? thanks
JimBuck
Good point. I think more than anything it's just unsafe. Not worth putting other people (or yourself) in a compromising position just to get the boat/truck off the ramp. Be patient and stay safe out there guys. MikeEiden
That was the point being made Jim and not about inconvenience; so thanks for chiming in and encouraging safety this fall. goblueM, I'll wait the additional time for the landing, not in that big of a hurry. If you're on a busy landing it gets pretty wet and of course icy. I've had to salt/sand a landing before even with 4x4 and just something to consider.Good luck this fall everyone and lets see some nice pics! nater
Brett nice job on the two fish. I fished about the same time frame and had a chance on the dawg. Shoot me an email I might have talked to you at the ramp. I was in the Alumacraft with the Tacoma. [email protected]
AWH
Any time temps are near or below freezing I'll pull the trailer out just far enough so the water can drain back into the lake and not on the ramp. Wait 30 seconds and most of the water has drained. If everyone did this it would greatly reduce the amount of ice on the ramps and make it a little safer for everyone using the landings.Aaron

nater
Today was a little better, caught a 38 trolling saw a fish and had a strike. Too bad the snow didn't come earlier.
