First I would like to thank each and every one of you for making this such a fun contest. Without your eager participation, this contest falls flat on its face. With each year, we are seeing more contestants and bigger fish! That is what it’s all about!

Secondly I would like to thank Aanderud for his maintenance and updating of the KOTC HSOforum, not to mention helping me out inputing any entries that I got backed up on.

Let’s start with the Channel Cat division:

On the Channel Cat side it was all about the spring bite on the Red River. Basically all of top channel cats came during the prespawn bite. It was pretty obvious that if a guy wanted to finish in the green he needed to take a road trip.

Here are some interesting stats:

11 fish 35” and over were entered (approx 20lbs and bigger)

55 fish 30” and over were entered (approx 10lbs and bigger)

Without further adieu, here are your 2009 Kings of the Channels. Congrats to all of you!

Congrats to the winners. Everyone in the top 5 for each species definitely earned it, with lots of hours on the water.

Great recap, Dtro. Thanks for all the hard work keeping up the photo gallery and leaderboard and managing the shootouts, etc.

It's a fun contest, for sure!

I am going to hibernate now until May. Congratulations to all the winners. Well done.

The total number of quality fish caught was unbelievable.

Even more impressive is that I believe nearly all the fish caught were safely released.

See everybody next season.......

Thanks everyone, I had a blast fishing this contest. I can truly say that a no money contest is far more fun then involving any money. I can't wait until next year to start from scratch!

Congratulations to all the winners, and to Ed for winning the fishing rod. My son Travis had Tom make me one, and it is a very nice rod. Thanks Tom for donating the fishing pole, and also thanks for making the fishing pole that Travis got from you. Well done!

Does Ed need another rod laugh

Congrates to all the winners and it was a great spring for me, even though my mid-late summer saw no catfishing smirk Got to pay the piper every once and awhile and this year was the year. If you do not, the piper takes half of everything you own, including fishing gear and boats winklaugh

Next year though, watch out grin

Thanks Darren, Brian and "That's all folks"

So if you are going to hibernate does till may, does that mean chasing some roosters in a few weeks is out of the question?

I had a great time with the contest, at times bombarded with entries and photos, but it was fun.

I have a few ideas for a couple very minor tweaks for next year and I look forward to keeping this a “for fun” contest and adding in a few more prizes here and there on a qualify for drawing basis.

As said earlier, the title is well deserved, I know guys fished long and hard for the crown!
