Gear that you don't leave home without

Lets help each other out and list some items that help your hunting experience.

I'll start.

1) Head lamp - great tool!!! Frees up your hands, you can adjust the light, you can use the red when walking into your deer stand. I've just got the $12 Menards lamp and it works fine, no need to spend $40. Great for fishing and camping too.

2) Rubberized gloves - a must have for duck hunting and picking up decoys. My brother also uses them on our spring trip to Red and pulling up the anchor. As I get into my 50's and feel my artritic hands, I wish I'd have taken better care in my younger days.

3) Neck gaiter - I thought I was pretty smart, for years I had a hooded sweatshirt with the arms and torso cut off and I wore it when I need a little something extra, then I tried my wifes neck gaiter - its great for the later season pheasant and deer hunts!!! Provides that little extra warmth on your neck and its easy to take off and put into your pocket when you start warming up. Better than any hooded sweatshirt! Not all gaiters are made equal, don't get it too tight! I've got a couple extra, I keep a spare in the truck.

None of these items are very expensive yet they really are nice to have with. Lets hear your 'need to have with' items.

Ziplock with TP in there smile

I rarely go anywhere without my digital camera anymore. You never know when you will come across a great pic. I put it in ziplock when waterfowl hunting.

Leatherman/Buck Tool/any quality multi-tool.

In winter, a UnderArmour balclava (sp?) That thing is the best for hunting or ice fishing.

My release, no fooling, I've forgotten it before. Everything else I can live without. Kind of hard to forget the bow & the arrows. Morning hunts having all your gear is less critical as you'll be tracking in daylight. I do love that.
