Fishing has been slow in the area lakes. Guys are getting a few calico bass (crappies) here and there, but are finding that they have to work hard to catch them. I shy away from the tounaments on minnusing, otherwise, I am just contributing to the cause. I have contacted the dnr and they are looking into the impact of all these tournaments. Dont know if anything will get done, but the good news, is it is out on the table again....

I live in Barnes and haved fished Tomahawk. You can catch Crappies out from the Boat Landing in 8 - 10 ft. of water. They tend to run small, and I never caught a lot of them. Best spot I know is the point where the boat landing Bay meets the main Lake. Bluegill fishing can be good there in 8-10 ft. with an ocassional Crappie. I rate the fishing on Tomahawk as fair, at best. I think your chances are much better on Robinson Lake, or Lower Eau Claire.

WHAT?!?! Another tourney on Minnisuing? Boy, the hits just keep coming.

Jarrid, haven't been down yet this winter. Maybe hitting it during that Feb. break. Got a new spot I want to try in the winter. How many tourneys on there so far this winter? 6, 8? This is getting ridiculous. Oh well, only 11 more weeks until ice-out.

That is why I quit fishing for eyes and Crappies out there. Of course with $4.00-$5.00/gal gas possibly coming, the boat may only make two trips on the trailer this year (One to the landing, one from the landing). Thus, I may need to try for eyes there for the family fish fry over the 4th. Thank God they don't have Bluegill and Bass ice contests........yet.

Fishing this weekend was okay. Ill give it a C report card. Friday night after work headed out to get 6 crappies. Saturday was the better day with consistent action all day. 6 pike (small), 4 largies (1 was 17"), blue gillz all day (small). Yesterday, was slow, 2 pike (small), and a few perch. Caught fish anyway. Kept the crappies from Friday night, and everything else released. Looking forward to this coming weekend already!!!!!!!!

Very slow weekend of fishing. Friday night was best with a crappie bite, but only iced a few. Saturday was even slower down in Gorden only getting a couple more crappies to add to the bucket. Best part of the weekend was Saturday night @ the checkerboard. Thanks to everyone who came out. . . . and no I hate the Packers, thats why Sunday sucked bad!!

Friday nights benefit was a success. Thanks to everyone that came out. Saturday I met up with my brother at a lake down around Barnes, Wascott area, we did okay icing a few crappies, after dark, and catching a few bass, and pike throughout the day. Big fish of the day was an 18" largie. Kept a few crappies for a friend that was with that was from the twin cities. Sunday, ventured down into the Spooner area with Sherpa and his brother and a friend, and caught a few more decent crappies. Sherpa got a 13" and I got a 12", and some other smaller ones. Again, kept a couple of the smaller ones for the citiot. Let the big ones go. All in all, a fun weekend of fishing. Cant wait until next weekend, going to Bemidji for a fishing trip..See you guys at the boat show eh

Did Minnie last night from about 5:45-7:30. Thought maybe I could get a couple as the sun was going down. NOPE. Skunked (1st time this winter). Not good. Last year we managed to pick off a few consistently with the same conditions etc. Anyone know, or can concur that Minnie shuts down at night. Seems to be the same for Nebagie (for me anyway)..

Usually there is a bite for that last half hour but the last 5 or 6 yrs it has been nil. I cant seem to find a consistent bite on Minnesuing on the ice or open water anymore. The last few years i have been focusing on Nebagamon but it seems from first light to about 9 am is the best time that I can find that works.
