Mille Lacs Smallies

Went up fishing on Sunday and Monday this week and fishing was OK. I am not too familiar with the lake but found some spots that produced 2-4 fish per spot, on average 2.5 pounds. Out of the 15 spots we tried, we found two areas that were holding fish pretty consistent. Monday afternoon was the best bite. It started to get a little breezy and that seemed to help the bite.

Any one been up there recently or is it better to wait a couple more weeks when the fall bite starts?

were do smallies go in the fall? do they move onto shallow rock piles again?

I'd give it a few days.. I tried it yesterday. With the wind up there the last few days the water was pretty murky. Usually murky is a bad thing, and it was for me. Fished it for 5 hours got 4 fish, biggest was 19.5.. I'd wait at least another week and let it clear up if possible.

Will be heading up Saturday to fish smallies for the first time this season. How has the bite been lately? Mainly fishing the south end.

Had a guide trip on Monday, full day we caught around 50 for the day lots of 3lb fish biggest two where 4lb 9oz twins, most on tubes, and topwaters.

Had perfect conditions hot weather with no wind. Cant wait to get back

I have been on the water for 8 days now, I have a bunch to get ready for the am, will get them loaded and put up this weekend.

I have been smokin em on the river up here too, same place we went a few years back after the Gander TOC

Remember those days BC??? We were fishing a little... slow! The action was not! John with catch-fish-guides is awesome and now is the time to try out the Mighty Miss. The fishing this time of year is second to none.

I was a little "foggy" but yeah it was good times. Anytime you can go out for 3 hours of fishing and ride along and catch 3-4 pound bass it's great.

Has anyone been out lately? did the water finally clear up? I would love to hammer some big bass during the fall. When do they pull the buoys indicting rocks? Anyone know?
